Guest Reviews
Location was ideal for commuting to work. Super comfy bed and so peaceful at night. Hassan is a delightful host. Nothing is too much trouble.
Staff
Comfortable room, super friendly and helpful staff. Good dog walks and excellent pub nearby. In early stages of being done up, so tired interiors but all clean.
Location was great, I enjoyed the breakfast too
Staff very friendly and arranged a smooth late check in for us. It is the 2nd time we stayed at the property, the first time on the 1st floor but on this occasion we were on the ground floor. The room was large with the added bonus of a fridge. The bathroom was a little tired yet functional. The bedding and towels were spotless.
Location was useful. Room was nice, breakfast was great. The place has clearly improved in recent times. We stayed twice, I used to live in Frenchay 35 years ago. Enjoyed our stay.
It was in a good and quiet location and people were very friendly.
About This Hotel
Located on Bristol Road, The Coach House sits just over five miles from the centre of Bristol. This historic guest house dates back to the eighteenth century, and from the moment you arrive you feel the blend of old world charm and practical comfort. The building has been maintained with care to provide bright en-suite rooms and a sense of character that is increasingly rare in modern hotels. Guests benefit from picturesque views across the surrounding landscape, a reminder of the property’s quiet ambience while still being close to the city’s attractions and amenities. Inside, 16 well appointed rooms offer reliable comfort with clean lines, modern bathrooms and thoughtful touches. The emphasis is on dependable practicality rather than flash, but rooms feel inviting and well maintained. The property’s renovation approach appears to balance the building’s history with contemporary conveniences, including complimentary WiFi in all areas. For guests arriving by car, free private parking on site means one less thing to organise. Check in is available from 15:00 to 19:00 and check out by 10:30, making it easy to fit a Bristol itinerary around travel times. Food is a highlight here with home cooked breakfasts made to order. Freshly prepared each morning, the meals set a welcoming tone for the day and reflect a hands on, friendly service. The low key, home style meals extend to general hospitality as well, with simple cooking that prioritises flavour and consistency. While the hotel does not list extensive dining options on site, your breakfast is a reliable, satisfying start before a day exploring the city or heading out to the surrounding area. Families are welcome and policies show a flexible approach to children and beds. All ages are accepted, and there are clear guidelines about cots and extra beds, subject to availability. The maximum occupancy is five guests. For families seeking extra space, or travellers bringing younger children, information on cots and bed arrangements is available on request. The property also welcomes pets on request, with charges possible. This makes The Coach House a practical option for multi generational trips or small family groups looking for a homely base. Wellbeing and leisure options come from a peaceful environment rather than a spa or pool. Guests enjoy the tranquillity of the building and its views, with easy access to Bristol by road for those who want city sightseeing, markets and riverside strolls. The hotel’s location makes it a convenient stopover for those who prefer a quieter night after a day exploring. Free WiFi keeps you connected, whether youre planning days out, catching up on work, or sharing photos from your Bristol adventures. Who is this hotel ideal for? It suits couples seeking a cosy, intimate break, families looking for a flexible, value driven stay, and travellers who appreciate historic architecture paired with practical modern comfort. It appeals to guests who want to be close to Bristol but prefer a quieter atmosphere and personalised service. With 16 rooms, The Coach House remains intimate enough to feel exclusive, yet sizeable enough to accommodate a small group or family. If you value straightforward hospitality, reliable amenities, and a traditional English welcome, this is a strong choice.
