McCrae’s Bed and Breakfast

The B&B is in a quiet and convenient area. It’s an easy walk to the centre. (About 20mins) It’s also close to local high-quality bistros. The room is elegant and spacious. Staff is friendly.

John was a great host and makes the best porridge in Scotland 😀 Breakfast was definitely a highlight. We loved the location of the B&B and were able to walk to most places.

Absolutely wonderful! Perfect distance away from old town that it was an easy walk, but kept you out of the crazy busy traffic/crowds.

It was comfortable and breakfast was delicious. The beds were great and so comfy for sleeping. (I often struggle) The place was clean. The whole experience was great

Very quiet room and an attentive host, who uses sustainable products, excellent breakfast - as we had to leave very in the morning, we got a surprise breakfast bag on our way - 100% recommendable 👍

Lovely room, lovely breakfast, lovely host

This is a special place, just three rooms served by the owner, John, who takes care of all your needs. Fabulous and healthy breakfast, good communication, parking at front of the B&B. The location is perfect, quiet street in vicinity to the St Mary Cathedral, plenty of pubs and restaurants on the way up to the St Mary Cathedral, vicinity to a beautiful botanic garden, the major shopping mall just behind the Cathedral and then over a bridge and you are on a Royal Mile. The small touches like providing electricity plug converters. And one evening when we played Rummicub John offered us three different bottles of excellent Scotch to enjoy while playing. And the room itself is quite spacey with well equipped on suit bathroom. In one word- highly recommend!

The host was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. There was a lot of choice for breakfast but a special mention for the porridge, which was very nice. The complimentary nightcap was a lovely touch and a good way to end the day.

Lovely property, welcoming and full of character in a great location in a quiet street just 10-15 minutes walk from Princess Street. Rooms were fantastic - spacious, with very comfy beds. John, the owner, was an excellent host - friendly and happy to chat - gave us loads of helpful information before and during our stay, from bus options to recommended pubs and restaurants. Breakfast was first class - great choices of fresh, mostly organic/locally sourced produce and homemade muffins! They also have a major focus on environmental sustainability and recycling - great to see. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, highly recommend, and we will definitely be back.

Location, cleanliness, facilities

Host was more than accommodating, the bed was comfy, and the "continental" breakfast was more than enough. It was a bit of a walk uphill to the the main attractions, but the neighborhood was nice and I would call it a great value.
