Great local spot, great menu for dinner and breakfast was lovely. Very friendly staff!

We spent 3 nights in this hotel and were very happy there. It is situated close to Culloden battlefield and close to main road network and the Black Isle. The owner was a splendid chap and he and staff made our stay enjpyable. Our room was good size and beds comfy. Bathroom also good size and facilities A1. Restaurant served good evening meal and a very tasty breakfast
Nice place for the night
Everything was wonderful.. I loved the room we were in, the kitchen staff lovely. Stairs are my enemy, but gladly navigated them for our lovely room
Superb staff, really welcoming and helpful. Lovely room, with plenty of space and seating. It even had a little sofa. Really nice location as well and easy to walk/cycle into Inverness. The food was great as well, freshly made and really generous portions.
Lots of parking
The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was lovely, really comfy beds
Room was small but clean and fine if you just need a place to sleep. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Overall great value for money.
Food was brilliant and plentiful. Manager (Pete) and team were excellent.
room was in good condition. Shower worked well. beds were comfortable. A very full Scottish breakfast!!
Great staff and a great breakfast!
We got to the inn before we could check in and the innkeeper (Peter) happened to be in the lobby. He took our luggage for us and stored it. Our taxi had already left and the inn isn't near anything so Peter said he'd drive us to Culloden with a first stop at Balnuaran of Clava. He waited for us while we explored the stones at Clava and then he dropped us off at Culloden before heading out to run errands. We took the bus into town and when we got back to our room, we found our luggage was inside. We only stayed one night and we were supposed to have breakfast in the morning, but because we had to leave at 4:30 am, Peter and his staff were nice enough to make us sandwiches to take with us! We did not eat at the restaurant at the Inn, but we did go to the on-site pub for a couple of drinks. Everyone was very friendly.
Good breakfast, comfortable

If you are flying in, Inverness Airport is about 8 kilometres away, a convenient drive after a flight. For history lovers, Culloden Battlefield lies about 2 kilometres from the doorstep, inviting a thoughtful morning walk or a richly interpretive visit. The address Smithton Road anchors you in a quiet, residential part of Inverness, which often translates to a calmer stay after busy days of exploring the Highlands. There is no on site pool or private beach listed for this property, so guests looking for resort style water features will want to plan day trips to nearby seaside or hotel alternatives. Instead, Smithton Hotel focuses on a practical, city and countryside friendly base with reliable basics, easy parking, and strong WiFi. In this sense the hotel serves as a convenient hub for travelers who intend to spend most of their time outside the building while knowing they have a comfortable home base to return to each evening. When it comes to rooms, Smithton Hotel keeps things simple and functional. The property houses 14 guest rooms, a size that supports a warm, intimate atmosphere without feeling crowded. The building’s 1980 origin is evident in the traditional layout and straightforward design, which many guests find reassuring for short or extended stays. The photo gallery associated with the property highlights bedrooms and beds, giving a sense of the restful spaces you might choose for a good night’s sleep after a day of Highland wandering. While the listing does not publish extensive renovation details, guests can expect a practical, well kept interior that serves as a comfortable canvas for your Highland itinerary. Food and drink options are signposted through the visual catalog of the hotel. Images labelled Breakfast appear in the gallery, reinforcing the idea that morning meals are a feature of the stay. In addition, some photos reference coffee and tea facilities, which suggests a level of in room convenience for guests who appreciate a quick cuppa first thing in the morning or a late night pick me up after a long day outdoors. While there is no specific dining venue described within the hotel itself, the Inverness area offers a wide range of options for guests to explore during the day, with many local eateries within a short drive or walk from the property. The policy also notes that all cots and extra beds are subject to availability, underlining the importance of early communication when planning a family stay. There are generous provisions regarding children, including the potential for free stays for up to two children when using existing beds, and a separate note about a possible fee for one child up to two years old when using available cots. These details help families understand how the hotel accommodates younger travelers while keeping expectations realistic. From a guest experience standpoint, Smithton Hotel earns consistently solid marks. The property has a robust review footprint with a strong staff score, and guests frequently highlight helpful service and a friendly approach. Free WiFi in all areas and free private parking on site add to the overall value, especially for travelers who want to stay connected and move around without the hassle of parking fees. The lack of on site pets can be a consideration for travelers with animals, but for many visitors the calm environment and practical amenities balance this trade off. In terms of surrounding leisure, Inverness offers a blend of outdoor opportunities and cultural sights that complement a stay at Smithton Hotel. The proximity to Culloden Battlefield makes day trips convenient for history enthusiasts, while the broader Inverness area invites scenic drives, riverside strolls, and easy access to nearby natural landscapes. It suits guests who want proximity to Inverness centre without staying in a busy urban core, and who plan to spend most days on the move rather than in the hotel itself.
