Well maintained period property
A rare experience to have a ‘Downton Abbey’ moment! A genuine li st ed country house. We loved the eccentric lift! Attention to detail all the way.
The property was absolutely beautiful, set in stunning gardens and grounds. Our courtyard room was quaint and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Wonderful staff, very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. Really stunning gardens and grounds. Only a 20 min walk into York (which was helpful as traffic was bad and taxis not that reliable).

We were delighted by this hotel and would have liked to stay more than 1 night. We enjoyed everything. The swimming pool was great but did close quite early 7pm so we could not stay too long (we only arrived around 5:30 pm. We also enjoyed the food as we had dinner there.
