The location was fantastic, very convenient, and the hotel was fun ... quirky decor, great staff, huge room. Good food, although the hot breakfast was a bit pricey. The other meals were really good.

The room was a great size and very comfy and clean. Location was perfect for walking distance for most places we were hoping to visit.

This is an amazing hotel with exceptional staff that made us feel incredibly special from the minute we booked the hotel, to the minute we left. We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary during our stay (Sept 27th - 29th), and we were completely spoilt with a beautifully decorated room with an amazing view (Room 905), prosecco on ice, a card from Team Mal, and petals on our bed in the shape of a heart. It was so lovely to walk into the room and see the care and attention that had been put into it. Thank you to the lady on reception who did this for us, and apologies we did not get your name. Without exception, all the staff we met during our stay were incredibly professional, friendly and helpful. During our stay, we had dinner in Chez Mal Brassiere. The food, drinks and service were excellent, concluding with a surprise celebration dessert plate for our anniversary and our daughters birthday. We also had drinks and cocktails in the bar, which again were expertly made and delivered by the bar staff. The hotel is in an excellent location, with only a short walk to many of the popular tourist spots. There is also a tram stop on the square, and pick up points for the open top and hop on-off bus outside the hotel. We parked in St James car park for the 2 day stay and with the hotels discount voucher, it cost £30. The car park is an easy 5 - 8 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel has the facility to store your luggage if you arrive early, which we took advantage of, allowing us to explore the city straight away. I believe they also offer this after check out too, if your travel plans are later in the day. We booked Malmaison as we wanted to stay in the centre of Edinburgh, but also because of the hotel decor, which we really liked, especially the design of the main restaurant (Chez Mal Brassiere). Malmaison Edinburgh City hotel, thank you for making our special weekend so special and for completely spoiling us. We will be back!

Very stylish, great atmosphere, superb location

The room was comfy and cozy, the shower was great, and when we ordered room service, they were extremely helpful and the food was really good. The bar was a great place to hang out for a drink to wind down from the day. It was a great location for the tram to the airport as well as getting around the city.
