Things to Do in Goreme: Tours & Activities

In Cappadocia the sights are both in the sky and under the ground. The most memorable moment of a visit is usually a sunrise balloon flight: among hundreds of balloons drifting over the Göreme valleys, you look down on the fairy chimneys and rock formations from above. For a quieter sky there are flights over the Soğanlı and Ihlara area, and if you would rather stay on the ground, balloon-watching tours come with a photographer.

The Red and Green tours shape the daytime programme. The Red Tour covers the northern sights such as Göreme Open-Air Museum, Paşabağ, Devrent, Çavuşin, Uçhisar and Avanos, while the Green Tour takes in the underground cities of Derinkuyu or Kaymaklı, Ihlara Valley and Selime Monastery. With only one day, a programme combining both tours or a private tour you plan yourself is a good choice. Sunset ATV rides and horse treks through the valleys show Cappadocia from yet another angle.
