Great location
The location was good.
Great location, lovely helpful staff, and gorgeous hotel with character.
Ticked all the boxes for a single night in Manchester
Great location, very central. Lots of natural light & was comfortable.
Love the location
Room was clean and large, very accommodating for 3 individuals like us. Bathroom was clean with clean towels. The AC was quite loud at night, but we head earplugs to sort it out. Breakfast offered a wide variety to choose from, very happy overall!

About This Hotel
The Alan sits in Manchester’s city centre on Princess Street, placing guests at the heart of the action. From this address you are just a short stroll from the city’s cultural anchors, with the iconic Manchester Central Library only 200 metres away and the Manchester Art Gallery opposite. The hotel is also at the door step of China Town, a lively gateway to a world of dining options that range from casual bites to more refined meals. The location makes it easy to pair a day of museum visits with a stroll through nearby streets, shopping districts, and theatre venues. After dark, the area comes alive with bar and restaurant options within easy reach. Inside the building the mood is modern and welcoming. The Alan features a bar that looks out over the street, offering a relaxing place to unwind with a signature drink after a day of exploring. The lobby and social spaces are designed for comfort, encouraging guests to linger and soak up the city vibe. Being in the city centre means you can easily step out for a pre dinner drink or an evening of live entertainment in nearby venues, then return to the hotel for a restful night. With 131 rooms, The Alan provides a simple, versatile base for all types of travellers. The guest rooms are designed to balance comfort and practicality, with beds and seating areas visible in the property photos that hint at spaces you can make your own for a quiet moment or a quick working break. The number of guests per room can reach four, which makes this a good option for families or small groups looking for a convenient base without sacrificing space. The property presents a functional, no fuss approach that keeps you close to Manchester’s highlights. Families will appreciate the hotel’s openness to children and its flexible arrangements. All children are welcome here, and the maximum occupancy across rooms is four guests. Cots and extra beds are subject to availability, and different arrangements are available depending on the option you book. Notably, one child under one year old can stay free when using a cot, while up to three children under twelve can stay free when using existing beds. A single child under twelve can stay free when using an available extra bed, and the maximum number of extra beds is one. These policies help families plan cost effective trips. Check-in begins at 3 pm, while check-out is by 11 am. The hotel supports free WiFi throughout, so guests can stay connected as they plan their day or share their Manchester discoveries. The property does not allow pets, and guests should be aware that the minimum age for check-in is 18. For groups, it is important to note that prices and occupancy details can vary when booking multiple rooms, so adding the number and ages of children during the search helps ensure accurate quotes. Dining and drinking options at The Alan are anchored by the onsite bar, a social hub where guests can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and a range of beverages. The photo collection also hints at additional dining spaces and lounge areas that contribute to a friendly, sociable vibe after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast offerings are part of the property’s broader guest experience, as suggested by the presence of breakfast related imagery in the gallery. While the hotel does not publicly publish a full restaurant lineup in the data, visitors consistently report easy access to food and drink within the immediate area. Rather than a spa or pool complex, The Alan leans on the energy of its urban setting. Guests can unwind in comfortable lounges, share stories over drinks in the bar, and plan their next Manchester adventure from a convenient base in the centre. The city surrounding the hotel offers day and evening entertainment, from galleries and libraries to theatres and music venues. After a day exploring, you can return to a quiet room and a restful bed, confident that you are within easy reach of Manchester’s most interesting corners. The Alan is ideal for city breakers who want a central location close to cultural landmarks, dining in China Town, and convenient transport links. It suits families looking for flexible occupancy and affordable comfort in a lively neighbourhood, as well as couples seeking a straightforward base with easy access to Manchester’s key sights. For guests who value reliable WiFi, practical rooms, and a welcoming bar scene after long days, The Alan offers a confident, uncomplicated stay that keeps you connected to the heart of the city.
