Guest Reviews
Amazing value for what we paid, toiletries like in really posh hotels, nearby bus stop to get to the city centre
Very comfortable, staff very polite. Housekeeping lady charming. Very convenient for visiting relative.
Location, secure parking and accommodation all good.
The rooms are lovely, clean and spacious, very comfortable. The water, biscuits and coffee are a nice touch. The toiletries are lovely. The atmosphere is nice and the food and drink selection also good. A little noise on a summers night from outside the pub, but it soon fades away. Always stay here when I come to Bristol.
We only stayed one night and we stayed in one of the rooms located outside to the rear of the property. It was a good sized room and was clean, well presented/ modern and had a fridge with bottle of cold water. If I need to stay in a hotel in the area again, I would definitely rebook the Wellington. Breakfast was good and produce was good quality - if we were staying more than one night it would have been good to have some interesting healthier options with low carbs, but for one night what we did have was very nice.
The rooms were really nice. Clean, firm bed, nice touches with the decor and surprisingly quiet (due to pub underneath and main road outside).
Everything I needed was provided. Comfortable room with good facilities. Comfy bed and great shower. Pub downstairs for food and drinks was handy.
Ideal location for football match at Memorial Stadium. Nice room, comfortable bed and good breakfast.
I have stayed here before. Perfect location for us near family. It was super easy to access out of hours and the rooms were great. I could also tell they had made updates in the stairways which improved everything.
Great location just were we wanted to be and we like a st Austell pub
Clean and comfortable room, comfortable bed and good shower. Very good breakfast.
The boutique style room and bathroom. Large fluffy towels. Tray with teas coffee and biscuits. Great breakfast. Lovely helpful staff.
The room was prefect! Very clean and Comfortable. Had all the necessary comforts to enjoy our stay. We booked two nights at the Wellington and they cleaned and fill up our teas and coffee on both days. The staff were super friendly and definfinley will be staying there again in the future. Free parking in their car park, which was amazing! We could easily take a bus to the centre of town just opposite the pub.
Very good location and a good size room which represents value for money
Friendly staff and lovely food - great steak 🥩,; yum.
Room was comfortable and clean. Good soundproofing as the bar was very busy and noisy. We were on the top floor and couldn't hear any notice at all. Breakfast was good. Staff were very busy but friendly and helpful.
Very friendly staff, comfy bed and room and clean bathroom. Easy check in.
Great little find. Staff were lovely and accommodating, room was well-stocked and comfy.
Very attentive staff. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast
The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was a high end shower with a rain shower head.
About This Hotel
The Wellington in Bristol is a small, characterful property that feels more like a welcoming guesthouse than a traditional hotel. With only five rooms, it offers a warm, intimate atmosphere where guests can settle in and enjoy the simple comforts of a well run, locally minded stay. The on site pub and restaurant form a social heartbeat for the place, serving fresh, locally sourced produce and providing a reliable option for meals without needing to leave the building. It is this combination of ease, conviviality and locality that makes The Wellington special for travelers who want a straightforward, unfussy base from which to explore Bristol. Location is a clear draw. The Wellington sits on Horfield Common with the address listed as Gloucester Road, placing you in a lively urban area that is still close enough to central Bristol to feel connected. A short walk brings you to the Memorial Stadium, home to Bristol Rovers, and the site is also associated with Bristol’s rugby club. The proximity to these sports venues makes the property particularly appealing to fans visiting for match days or supporters looking for a friendly place to stay nearby. The surrounding streets add a sense of everyday Bristol life, with a mix of residential spaces and local amenities that give you a genuine feel for the city. Inside the house the emphasis is on comfort and practicality. The five rooms are designed to accommodate travelers efficiently, with photographs and listing notes indicating well kept sleeping spaces and clean bathrooms. While the listing does not detail every renovation or update, the photography suggests a contemporary, tidy presentation with beds that look comfortable and bathrooms that appear well appointed. This is ideal if you value a straightforward, relaxed sleeping space after a busy day exploring the city. The property’s smaller size also means guests often enjoy a quieter, more personal experience than larger city center hotels. Food and drink are a real asset here. The on site pub and restaurant are described as serving fresh, locally sourced produce, which is a strong selling point for guests who appreciate quality meals without needing to go far. The dining area is highlighted in the photos as a welcoming space, and there are images that illustrate an appealing lounge or bar where guests can unwind with a beverage after dinner. The visual focus on dining areas and the ability to enjoy breakfast options is supported by image tags that reference a dining area and food presentations, including breakfast options such as English or Irish styles. Breakfast and other meals are presented as part of the hotel’s daily rhythm, reinforcing the sense that The Wellington offers a self contained day to day experience. From a family and group perspective, it is important to note the property policies. The listing indicates that there is no capacity for cots and that children are not allowed. The maximum occupancy per room appears to be two guests, with only one extra bed possible and subject to availability. These policies should be considered by families or groups traveling with little ones or needing flexible bedding arrangements. For adults and couples, however, these policies translate into a simple, clear framework that helps you plan your stay with confidence. Amenities such as free WiFi are available across the property, and free public parking on site adds to the convenience of staying here. The combination of a practical, well located base with a friendly on site dining option makes The Wellington an attractive option for travelers who want to minimize planning friction and maximize time enjoying Bristol. The on site pub and restaurant provide a comfortable social anchor, while the proximity to Memorial Stadium and local sports venues gives this hotel a distinctive niche for sports fans, city explorers, and visitors who value a lively yet approachable neighborhood setting. Who will get the most out of a stay at The Wellington? This is a strong choice for adults seeking a simple, sociable base near sports venues, for travelers who appreciate the convenience of on site dining, and for guests who prefer a modest, well kept room with easy access to local life. If you are visiting Bristol to attend a game or to explore the Gloucester Road area and Horfield Common, you will likely find The Wellington a friendly, authentic option. While it may not be the right fit for families needing cot facilities or larger setups, it shines as a practical, inviting home away from home where comfort, location and dining quality come together in a low fuss package.
