Göreme Balloon Flight: One Hour at Sunrise

Göreme is the heart of Cappadocian ballooning, and its valleys and fairy chimneys look most dramatic from the air. This Göreme balloon flight keeps you aloft for about an hour at sunrise in a balloon flown by experienced pilots who know the terrain well.

How the adventure starts

Your driver comes to your hotel about an hour before the flight and asks for you by name. On the way to the launch site you are given a snack pack with cake, fruit juice and more. At the field you watch the balloon being inflated and listen to the pilot's short safety briefing before climbing into the basket.

An hour in the sky

The pilot steers the balloon over the valleys for about an hour. As the first sunlight hits the rocks, seeing a hundred or more other balloons floating around you is a sight that stays with you. The route depends on the wind each morning, so no two flights are quite the same.

Landing and celebration

Back on the ground there is a traditional non-alcoholic champagne celebration and you receive a commemorative flight certificate with your name on it. Afterwards you are driven back to your hotel. Photos and videos with a 360-degree camera are not included but can be added on the day.

Good to know

Flights depend on the weather and Civil Aviation permission every morning. The flight is not recommended for travellers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnant travellers. Mornings are cool, so dress in layers and wear flat shoes for the basket.
