Guest Reviews
Old small hotel that kept the traditional look and design. Very good design of the rooms and the hotel itself. Small hotel, without amenities. Very good and friendly staff. It was clean. The location is about 10 minutes walking from Sultanahmed Square, upstream walking if that matters to anyone.
From check-in to check-out, the staff at Ayasofya Special Class Hotel were gracious, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. Our room was airy, comfortable, and impeccably clean; the bed and pillows ensured restful sleep. The hotel’s location is outstanding—most landmarks are an easy walk. What truly set our stay apart was their concierge-level advice. They outlined the best places to visit in Istanbul with practical, detailed tips. We booked the Bosphorus cruise they recommended and attended a Turkish Night—both were superb experiences, and the food was excellent. On our last day, they suggested a traditional hammam with massage; we took their advice and left feeling renewed. We followed all of their suggestions and everything unfolded flawlessly. In short: everything was perfect and we’d gladly return.
From the moment I arrived, the location stood out — just a short walk from the Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya) and other major landmarks in Istanbul. The hotel made it easy to explore the heart of the city on foot, which was a real plus. One of my favourite spots was the terrace: a lovely quiet space where I enjoyed a cup of coffee in the morning and a drink in the dusk. The views over the old city and nearby rooftops gave a peaceful contrast to the bustle down below. Breakfast each morning was served in a bright space with plenty of choice — warm dishes, fresh pastries, fruits, and good coffee. Having breakfast on the terrace made that part of the day feel even more relaxed and special. The room was tidy and clean — fresh linens, spotless surfaces, well-organised bathroom. It was clear housekeeping pays attention to details, which made the stay feel comfortable and hassle-free. Beyond the hotel itself, the surrounding area is ideal: you’re close to the Blue Mosque, the Topkapi Palace, the Basilica Cistern and many of the historic sites that make Istanbul so special. Being able to walk out and be immersed in that heritage was a real advantage. Overall, if you’re looking for a hotel in Sultanahmet with a great terrace, good breakfast, clean rooms and a location that puts you in the heart of Istanbul’s history, Ayasofya Hotel is a very solid choice.
We had an amazing stay at Ayasofya Hotel Special Class. The sea view from the terrace was absolutely stunning — a perfect place to start the morning or relax in the evening. The breakfast was another highlight, offering a wide variety of delicious Turkish specialties, fresh and beautifully presented. Our room was spotless, tidy, and very comfortable, making our stay even more enjoyable. A special thanks to Alex, the hotel manager, for his warm hospitality and helpful attitude — he truly made us feel at home. We definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul!
Excellent Service. Very friendly staff Ali and team. A shout-out to the chef who went out of their way to make us vegetarian breakfast early in the morning. Walkable to hagia Sofia and other attractions. We also booked our airport shuttles through them and was on time and reliable at a good price point. Will definitely stay again and recommend others!!

The hotel was really great for our needs. The location is superb, 5-10 min walk to the central square, Sultan Ahmet, where the Blue mosque and Hagia Sophia are located. Our room was quite huge, actually split in two rooms, with a door in between. This was very convenient for four of us, kids in one room, parents in the other. The interior was rather elegant with attention to small details. Everything inside was super clean, including bathroom. We were really pleased with the accommodation. Special mention of the reception staff and also the staff in the rooftop restaurant. On our arrival, while we were waiting for the room to be ready (we arrived a bit earlier than check-in time), we were having a coffee at the rooftop, enjoying the view. Since we didn't have any breakfast that day, early morning flight with no food or snacks, we sent our daughter to see if there was any food available in the restaurant. Then, to our surprise, the staff organised some food for us, noting that they do not provide lunch in the restaurant, but wanted to get something for the kids. We are really grateful for that. Thank you so much Ayasofya hotel staff. Great service.
The location is excellent and the host was helpful, really enjoyed our stayed
All the employees were very friendly and helpful. Everything is very nicely decorated, and the breakfast on the terrace with a wonderful view is a winner.
