Hon 8.0

Very friendly staff, downstairs is a bar and the room is just on 1st floor. Recommended to try their pizza and beer. Delicious and the price seems ok. Location pretty centred and easy to get around with bus and walkable distance to River Ness, East Gate Mall and Mark & Spencer Food Hall. Around the hotel have some good restaurants and laundry service as well.

Tamsin 8.0

Friendly staff who helped us with all our equipment (and the dog) at the end of our canoeing trip

Samantha 8.0

The rooms are very basic, and the beds aren't exactly comfortable. In all fairness it's a good location if you want to be in the center and the bar/restaurant is really nice and does great pizza. The windows are so thin and you can hear absolutely everything, it's like the Magaluf strip out there at 2am so if you want a good night's sleep you aren't getting it. Recommend for youngins on a wild weekend, we stayed there as a central place for a hiking trip - wouldn't do that again.

About This Hotel

Located in the heart of Inverness, Black Isle Bar Rooms sit directly above the Black Isle Bar on Church Street, offering a compact yet distinctly city centre base. The property is designed for guests who value ease of access and a sociable atmosphere, all within a short walk of local shops, cafes and the riverfront. The building feels intimate rather than sprawling, with fourteen rooms that cater to travellers who want a practical, unfussy stay in a lively neighbourhood. Pet friendly by design, the hotel makes it straightforward to bring a four legged companion along for a short break that pairs urban exploration with a comfortable, low key lodging option. The location is best described as convenient, convenient enough to walk to major sights and easily slip back to your home base for a change of pace before an evening out. Beach and pool experiences are not features of this property. There is no on site beach or swimming facility, and guests should not expect a resort style layout here. Instead, the emphasis is on location and the social spaces that surround the lodging. Some rooms overlook the Secret Garden roof terrace bar, which stays open until midnight, bringing a gentle after hours ambience into the building. This creates a dynamic, city shaped rhythm for guests who enjoy a vibrant, accessible scene right downstairs. If your plan includes a poolside day or a seaside excursion, you will find other options in the region that suit that preference, but if you want a central Inverness address with a welcoming bar scene and easy access to local sights, this is a strong choice. Rooms are presented in an intimate, modest footprint aimed at comfort and practicality. The fourteen rooms prioritise a relaxed, home like atmosphere rather than expansive luxury. The décor and configuration visible in the photos include bunk bed arrangements in some rooms, a practical note for groups or families travelling together. Several rooms enjoy views toward the Secret Garden terrace, while others look out onto the street, lending the stay a sense of activity and place. Clean bedding, reliable essentials and a straightforward approach to in room comforts define the guest experience here. Because the property is small, guests experience a closer, more personal feel than at larger hotels, with a sense of being part of a lively building rather than simply a place to sleep. Food and beverage options form a central part of the Black Isle Bar Rooms experience. The on site bar is an active space that has a close relationship with the street level, contributing to a friendly, social atmosphere. The establishment also features a restaurant space where meals are served and a range of drinks are available, including both alcoholic and non alcoholic options. The menu and bar offerings are designed to be flexible for travellers who want a casual meal or a quick bite before heading out to explore Inverness by night. For guests who simply wish to unwind in the evenings, the lounge bar area provides a comfortable backdrop for conversation and a relaxed pace after a day of sightseeing. The Secret Garden terrace offers an outdoor option when weather permits, adding a touch of seasonal charm to the dining and drinking experience. Family friendliness is a clear strength here. Children are welcomed and the property supports up to three guests in a room configuration, with no capacity for extra beds or cots. For families with younger children, two children can stay free when using existing beds, while children aged three years and above are charged as adults. The hotel maintains a minimum check in age of eighteen, and there is no curfew, offering guests the freedom to come and go as they please. Pets are allowed on request and charges may apply, which makes this an adaptable option for households travelling with dogs or cats. WiFi is available throughout the building at no extra cost, so staying connected is easy whether you are planning day trips or sharing travel moments with friends and family back home. Relaxation and entertainment options sit alongside practical convenience. Even without a dedicated wellness centre, the property fosters a comfortable social vibe through its bar and roof terrace. The vicinity to Inverness city centre means you can easily combine a taste of local culture with informal evenings in a warm, friendly setting. The on site dining and drinks facilities reduce the need to go elsewhere for meals, while reliable WiFi supports planning days out, sharing photos or catching up on correspondence. The overall mood is approachable, welcoming and social, with staff and spaces that encourage guests to slow down and enjoy a straightforward city break in the Highlands. Overall, Black Isle Bar Rooms is best suited to travellers who prioritise location, accessibility and a relaxed social atmosphere over formal luxury. It is an ideal choice for couples seeking a convenient city centre escape, families who want bunk bed configurations in a compact space, and guests travelling with pets who want a straightforward, friendly base in Inverness. If you value a property that is easy to reach on arrival, close to dining and nightlife options, and generous with its pet friendly policy, this offers a practical and enjoyable option for a Highlands city break. The hotel provides a dependable, low fuss experience that lets you focus on discovering Inverness and the surrounding area at your own pace.
