Guest Reviews
The location was perfect. Views of the Hagia Sophia mosque from the windows. The staff is amazingly welcoming and helpful. I visited this hostel for the first time in 2021 and have gone back again in 2025. If I'm visiting Istanbul, I will be staying at this hostel again and again.
The area was beautiful
location, great staff, access to fellow travelers , fun bar with fantastic view of hagia sofia , friday family night, good breakfast
I absolutely loved my stay the staff were so friendly, funny and hospitable. The breakfast was delicious and so value for money. Beds were comfortable and bathroom super clean. Location was perfect, right next to all the main attractions. Cannot fault my stay, would love to go back.
Cheers hostel is a fantastic place to stay and a wonderful jumping off point for all of your Istanbul adventures. The staff is so kind and helpful and gave amazing recommendations. They were even able to accommodate my friend as a last minute addition to my room reservation. They generously upgraded our room so we had more space, which had stunning views of the Hagia Sophia. Anything you need, they were there to help. The hostel is very social and a great place to meet people. Breakfast was delicious. And the sweet hostel dog that greets you was a fantastic bonus.
The whole vibe was just so welcoming and homely. Very friendly staff. Clean rooms and amenities. The breakfast was also a great variety and well prepared.
Clean rooms. Reasonably clean bathrooms. Great rooftop bar, very social, met lots of great people. Aircon worked nicely. Free breakfast was alright.
Staff extremely nice and helpful. Good atmosphere and ideal location. Super good quality-price value for money. Super recommended. Individual rooms are good, maybe missing a bit of light but not a big deal.
Great hostel with a nice social area and clean and comfortable beds.
Really nice staff and cute dog. We had a private room which was really nice and had A/C. The location is great, a short walk to one of the main train stations and the ferry. Our room was quiet as it was in another building and the breakfast was great
Location
Whole staff was phenomenal. Great location. Osman was phenomenal.
The bar at the top is a great addition if you are too lazy to go out but don’t want to miss the fun. During the night it is very quiet. The bed was super comfortable.
The staff were amazing, welcoming and friendly. Special thanks to Zama, the golden retriever, for being so cute and lovable. The location was perfect, very close to all the famous landmarks here truly in the heart of the city, and you can even see Hagia Sophia from the top floor in the hostel. The hostel provided a lot of activities, and pub crawls on Fridays and Wednesdays, and other good opportunities to meet cool and interesting people staying here alongside you. I got to meet a lot of amazing people here, from all over. Would 100% come here again for a short or a long stay.
Perfect place to meet people thanks to the wide range of activities like pub crawls, boat trips, and more. The breakfast is delicious, the staff is super friendly, everything is clean, and there’s air conditioning in the room. I stayed here 9 years ago and came back because it just feels like home. I’ll definitely return again!
The bed and private room were very comfortable. We also liked all the helpful advice we got from the staff about trips and sightseeing. Breakfast buffet was basic but good snd location is excellent for major sites and had nice neighbourhood feel.
A cozy, safe, and perfectly located stay in the heart of Sultanahmet. I stayed in a private room with its own entrance—clean, with warm water and great AC. The location is ideal for walking to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the palace. Breakfast was simple but good, and the staff were extremely kind and welcoming. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe—even walking around the square at 10:30 p.m. for ice cream. Highly recommend!
Amazing stay at Cheers Hostel, I super mega recommend. Stuff is super cool and friendly.
especially the breakfast. i was so happy to be able to eat so much fruits everyday. and the two ladies in the kitchen are so nice. they always provide coffee or tea for you
Really great hostel- very kind and friendly staff, very good value for money, I felt safe as a solo female traveller 😌 I was only there for a short time but there were a lot of events scheduled so it would be good for other solo travellers/travellers wanting social events (:

About This Hotel
Cheers Hostel sits in the heart of Istanbul’s historic Sultanahmet district, a short stroll from Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. The address places guests in the middle of a living historic center where winding streets, ancient monuments, and lively markets shape the day. From here you can wander to the Basilica Cistern, the Grand Bazaar, and the tram lines that link you to modern Istanbul with ease. The setting appeals to travelers who want to feel the pulse of the city just outside the door while returning to a relaxed base at the end of the day. Within the building and on its terrace you will find a genuine social atmosphere. The terrace bar offers Old Istanbul views and a chance to unwind with a drink while watching the sun descend over the city. The property also features lounge spaces and a patio area where guests can mingle, plan day trips, or simply watch the world go by. These shared areas are a core part of the hostel experience here, offering a budget friendly way to meet fellow travelers after a day of exploring. With 29 rooms arranged in a compact building, Cheers Hostel focuses on practical comfort. The imagery in the listing highlights beds and living spaces, with tags that reference beds, wardrobes and air conditioning. The presence of bunk bed related photos points to the hostel format that keeps accommodation affordable and sociable, while private rooms may also be available. The building arrangement supports a friendly, communal vibe, which is part of what many guests seek in Sultanahmet. Food and drink are straightforward and convenient. A buffet breakfast is available, helping you fuel busy days touring mosques and museums. The terrace bar provides a relaxed spot for a post sightseeing drink or a light bite with a view over the old city. In addition to the bar, visitors will notice several images showing a lounge or bar area and spaces designed for socializing. While the listing prioritizes culture and location, the on site options give you a simple, reliable way to start and end your day without venturing far. As a city center hostel this property focuses on culture and social spaces rather than a beach or pool on site. Families and guests of all ages are welcomed here. The property states that children of any age are allowed and that one child up to seven years old can stay free when using existing beds. For older children between eight and seventeen, the policy mentions a modest extra charge per night when using existing beds. The maximum number of guests per room is four, and there is no capacity for extra beds or cots. Pets are not allowed, and there is no curfew ensuring freedom to explore the area and return whenever you like. WiFi is available throughout the property, keeping everyone connected while on the move. Beyond the social hubs, the hotel is a practical base for relaxation and light entertainment. The property offers a range of communal spaces such as a lounge or TV area, a balcony or terrace option, and seating areas where you can unwind with a book or catch up with friends. The skyline views from the terrace add a sense of occasion to evenings, while the surrounding streets invite endless discoveries. For families and groups, the friendly pace and central location make it easy to plan day trips to nearby sights or to sample street food stalls and markets with confidence. Cheers Hostel is ideal for budget minded travelers seeking a city center base in Istanbul. It suits solo travelers looking to meet others, families with children who want a welcoming, flexible policy, and groups arranging short city breaks. If you want easy access to World Heritage sites, a lively historic atmosphere, and a social setting where a terrace bar becomes a daily ritual, this is a fitting choice. It is also a sensible option for travelers who value free WiFi, convenient breakfast, and a friendly team ready to share tips on local experiences and day trips.
