Hotels location by the cliffs, cooked breakfast, however with a limited food choices and after few days I had enough of same english breakfast choice, very reasonably priced in the off season time, comfortable bed in the room with enough pillows and large duvet cover, extra electric heater in the room, which was really handy in the winter time, nice fresh towells
Accommodation. Staff excellent 👏
Generous sized room, clean with a wonderful view and location. Friendly and informal. Great value. Will return!
Good room with lovely sea view, comfortable bed and adequate bathroom. We stayed here because one of our daughters lives literally around the corner and it was the convenience and the possibilty of parking that made us choose the Commodore. We have had drinks here before not realising it was in fact a hotel. The breakfast was excellent and our daughters were able to join us. The staff were young, friendly and really helpful. We will stay again.
Nice comfortable room good view of the sea. The Breakfast was very good. Great choice of either continental or freshly cooked Eggs,Bacon,Sausages, Beans etc. There was also Eggs Benadick.
The view was spectacular and we were blessed with nice sunny days, although a cold wind.
Everything was perfect.Easy check in,great staff and good food.Room was lovely with a ses view. Would definitely stay again.
We love it , stayed many times now. Exactly what we want, perfect location for us
About This Hotel
Tucked on the cliff tops at Southbourne, the Commodore Hotel by Greene King Inns sits beside the cliff lifts and the popular Fisherman’s Walk. It is the kind of setting that instantly signals a coastal escape with character. The property looks straight out to sea, and every guest room benefits from a dramatic ocean view. With just 23 rooms, the hotel feels intimate yet comfortable, giving you a calm base from which to explore the sandy shores, rolling dunes and coastal paths that define this part of the Bournemouth area. The location also makes day trips to the New Forest feel effortless and appealing for those who want a mix of coast and countryside on one break. Step outside and the surroundings invite exploration. The Southbourne coastline is a short stroll from the door, with beaches, scenic walks and a sense of quiet that is hard to find in busier resort towns. The cliff top position means you can follow the Fisherman’s Walk along the edge of the shore and enjoy sweeping views across the sea. Bournemouth town centre is a short drive away for shopping, dining and nightlife, while the New Forest offers a different kind of day out with ancient woodlands, calm trails and wildlife. The Commodore is perfectly placed for a coast and forest break that suits couples, families and groups alike. Inside the 23 guest rooms, comfort and a sense of purpose come first. All rooms offer fantastic sea views, inviting you to start the day with a horizon that stretches to the open ocean. The interiors are designed to feel welcoming and relaxed, with practical amenities that make a seaside stay easy. In-room comforts include coffee and tea facilities for a quick morning boost, and a television with multimedia options for downtime after a day of adventures. Private bathrooms provide the final touch of convenience and privacy so you can unwind at your own pace. Food and drink at the Commodore are pitched to suit a coastal mood. The hotel offers on site dining options that give you a convenient way to enjoy a casual meal without leaving the building. A lounge bar provides a comfortable spot for a pre dinner drink or a relaxed nightcap, while the overall ambience reflects the sea front setting. In addition to these dining spaces, in room amenities include coffee and tea facilities so you can savor a hot drink as you plan your day or unwind in front of your sea view. Families will find the Commodore particularly approachable. The property welcomes children of any age, making it a sensible choice for a seaside family break. The maximum occupancy per room is four guests, and there is no capacity for extra beds. Cots and other arrangements are subject to availability, so it is worth confirming what can be accommodated when you book. This limits the need to juggle sleeping arrangements and keeps things simple, which many families value when planning a holiday together. Beyond the rooms, the hotel’s location itself offers a sense of wellness and relaxation that many travelers seek. The sea air, the constant backdrop of the coastline and the proximity to the Fisherman’s Walk provide ample opportunities for gentle strolls or longer coastal hikes. For those who want more city style, Bournemouth town centre is nearby for shops, cafés and cultural experiences, while the New Forest gives a chance to swap sea views for forest trails and wildlife watching. The Commodore acts as a tranquil hub from which to discover both the coast and the countryside. This hotel is an excellent match for travelers who value a scenic, sea facing base without sacrificing accessibility. It works well for couples who want a quiet weekend away with sweeping views, as well as small families seeking a flexible space that can accommodate up to four guests in a single room. The combination of sea views, proximity to coastal paths, convenient dining options, and reliable WiFi makes it a practical choice for both short breaks and longer coastal getaways. If you are looking for a relaxed, welcoming stay on the Bournemouth coast with easy access to forest and coast, the Commodore Hotel offers a compelling blend of location, comfort and value.
