Good value and location

Comfortable, personal was helpful, clean

The staff were wonderfully helpful and flat accommodation excellent. However, the distance from the Residence to Edinburgh City Centre and unavailability of early morning taxis during Festival Season mean that it only works well if you are able and willing to drive in busy streets, or work around an hour long bus journey. If you wanted to book a group or bigger family trip to the Festivals and Fringe, the possibility of renting a flat with individual rooms (ensuite) with shared kitchen and dining space would be extremely cost-effective. I'm considering that if my wider family ever decided to go to the Tattoo or the Festivals

The price was much less than for a hotel room in the city during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe which was the reason for staying there for our last night in the area. Also the location was a bit closer to the airport where we were headed the next morning. It is very clean with ensuite bathroom. There is a large kitchen/lounge area accessible for every few rooms which is a nice plus. The only negative aspect is the bed which, although comfortable, is very narrow and pushed next to the wall. This is great for a single but cramped for sleeping 2. We were already aware of this from staying at similar locations in the past. The reception staff who served us were exceptionally friendly and helpful -- beyond expectation. There is a very nice seaside area only about 10 minutes away by bus, which stops right at the dorm.
