Location near to rail station but also a quiet location

Had a wonderful stay (4 nights at Elmington House) - fabulous property and Lisa (the Owner) is incredibly warm and friendly and does her upmost to ensure you have a great stay. Spotlessly clean and fantastic breakfasts (served by Colin who was very efficient and friendly) - Hotel rooms were well furnished, very clean. Hotel is situated in a quieter part of Torquay (which I loved) but only a short walk to the beach and shops - would highly recommend.

Great little B&B, so close to everything to Torquay. The whole hotel was absolutely pristine and wonderfully decorated, from the lobby through the common rooms to the actual rooms. Absolutely beautiful atmosphere. The staff was also kind, friendly and helpful, always ready to help or just to chit chat. If we ever return to Torquay we'll definitely be back.

Lovely house, very clean and comfortable and it was nice staying somewhere a bit more personal, rather than a chain hotel. Lovely location and even when the weather was bad it was nice room to warm up with a cup of tea and watch the weather!

We had a superior room, which was large, good view of the bay. Very clean and decor was very good. The shared areas were pleasantly furnished. Good position with a short 10/15 minute walk into town. Good car parking facility. Excellent breakfast.

Very clean room and ensuite. Good size bedroom with lovely view to park opposite. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom very clean and in good condition maybe a little "cosey". The staff and owner were lovely and so helpful. A lovely lounge to sit in when you come back at the end of the day, with a bar. beautiful grounds and a good size swimming pool. A lovely terrace off the lounge - great to sit outside.

Breakfast was great, room lovely and staff were friendly, good location in town although the town itself needs more investment. We didn’t use the outdoor pool but it was lovely to have the option.

About This Hotel

Elmington Hotel sits in a quiet pocket of Torquay, a small boutique property with five guest rooms that prioritises calm, privacy, and thoughtful service. The building is set back on St Agnes Lane, offering a peaceful retreat while staying remarkably close to the coast. A short stroll takes you to Torquay seafront, the lively town centre, Torre Abbey, and the English Riviera Conference Centre. This combination of serenity and accessibility makes Elmington a convenient doorstep to the best of the area while preserving a relaxed atmosphere. Location and surroundings: The hotel is nestled away from busy hubs, yet it remains perfectly connected to a coastline full of options. From the front door you can begin a gentle walk to the sea, where the promenade and beaches invite long, scenic days. The proximity to Torre Abbey adds a touch of local heritage, while the nearby English Riviera Conference Centre makes the area feel active and connected. The quiet street setting helps guests unwind after day trips or evenings out. Beach and coastal experiences: Torquay is famous for its sunlit shores and sheltered coves, and Elmington puts you within easy reach of this coastline. You can plan spontaneous beach moments or scenic strolls along the water, with the option to enjoy local cafes and fish and chips along the way. The guest experience is built on proximity to the coast, allowing you to switch from restful downtime inside the hotel to breezy energy outside just steps from your door. Room comfort and surroundings: With five rooms to choose from, Elmington offers compact yet inviting spaces designed for comfort. The property gallery shows a mix of bedrooms and living areas, each furnished with simple, contemporary touches and plenty of natural light. While the exact bed configurations vary by room, guests consistently report a clean, well presented interior with comfortable seating and practical storage. The intention is clear to provide a restful base from which to explore Torquay or simply enjoy a quiet night in. Renovation details and design ethos: The interiors reflect a contemporary boutique vibe, focused on clean lines, usable spaces, and a welcoming ambiance. The living room and dining area elements highlighted in photos convey a sense of homely practicality that suits short breaks. The property balances intimate scale with generous hospitality, creating a feel of personal attention in a compact, well maintained setting. Elmington is presented as a thoughtfully maintained home away from home rather than a large hotel experience. Food and beverage options: An inviting dining area shown in the image collection hints at sociable meals within the property. While there is no standalone restaurant listed, guests can expect a comfortable space to enjoy meals together during the visit. The emphasis is on a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where guests can gather for informal breakfasts or light suppers if arrangements are made. For those who value convenience, the on site layout supports easy, low key dining in a charming setting. Family friendliness and activities: The listing highlights a welcoming approach to couples and families, yet a careful look at the policy reveals constraints. The maximum occupancy is two guests per stay, and the policy notes that children are not allowed. Check in is possible from 14:00 to 23:00, with check out by 10:00. WiFi is available in some rooms at no extra charge, and free public parking is possible on site, making Elmington a practical choice for a quiet coastal break. These factors point to a property that suits intimate escapes best. Relaxation and entertainment: After a day by the sea, you can retreat to a calm, well kept interior where soft seating and warm lighting create a soothing mood. The hotel’s intimate scale means service feels personalised, with staff attentive to your needs. The surrounding area offers opportunities for exploration, historic sites, or simply enjoying Torquay’s coastal atmosphere. For couples and solo travelers who value a serene setting, Elmington provides a reliable, low fuss base that makes the most of a seaside location. Who this hotel is ideal for: Elmington is ideal for couples seeking a quiet Torquay stay close to the seafront. It also suits travelers who value a small, easily navigable property with on site parking and a short stroll to local sights.
