Strategic location
The hotel is in excellent area and close to Hagia Sophia. It is suitable for solo travellers. The hotel is somewhat old and its antique atmosphere is not new, but it serves the purpose for a day or two, In addition to a modest breakfast, on the roof with a stunning view
Rooms more than adequate, location was comfortable walking distance to everything. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

About This Hotel
Meddusa Hotel places you in the heart of Istanbul’s historic Sultanahmet district, a short walk from iconic sights. The location is a clear selling point for travelers who want to immerse themselves in the city’s ancient core and still be within easy reach of top experiences. Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar are just a five minute stroll away, letting you easily slip into a day of exploration and return to a quiet base after long hours of wandering. The surrounding streets are a tapestry of historic lanes, cozy cafés, and small shops that add texture to every stay. This intimate property is designed for travelers who value convenience and character over size, with just 16 rooms that feel like a private retreat in a bustling city. A key feature is the terrace restaurant that crowns the building. From the dining space you can take in panoramic views of Istanbul as you unwind over a meal. Photos and the listing emphasize both city view and sea and balcony terrace options, hinting at a lively, atmospheric setting where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner with a backdrop of the skyline. The dining concept is clearly geared toward casual meals and social moments made better by the scenery outside. Inside, the hotel leans toward a straightforward, budget friendly approach. The property is described as budget and offers essential comfort in a compact package. With 16 rooms you will likely find a clean and compact arrangement that supports an efficient city break rather than a luxury retreat. The listing focuses on practical necessities, such as beds and in room media, plus living areas visible in photos that suggest some rooms may include a living room or dedicated seating space. Balconies and terraces are frequently shown in the gallery, indicating that a number of rooms offer outdoor space and a chance to step outside for a moment of fresh air after a day of sightseeing. Although the exact renovation or update details are not specified, the photos hint at neat, well kept interiors that aim to deliver comfortable stays without unnecessary frills. Guest rooms are designed to provide a restful base after busy days. The presence of a bed and television in the imagery reinforces the emphasis on essential comfort. Shared spaces such as a lobby or reception area and a communal lounge or TV room offer convenient spots to relax with fellow travelers or plan the next day’s sightseeing. The hotel’s compact size often translates into a friendly, attentive service style, with staff who can help you navigate the neighborhood and set up local experiences. Food and beverage options are a central part of the Meddusa experience. The terrace restaurant is the standout feature, presenting a chance to enjoy meals with a view. The hotel is associated with buffet style breakfast and a variety of dining moments across the day. The photo gallery shows references to breakfast options and the possibility of lunch and dinner service, as well as a range of drinks from non alcoholic to alcoholic choices. While there is no dedicated spa or extensive wellness program mentioned, the on site dining and lounge areas invite guests to unwind in a casual, social setting. The presence of a communal kitchen in some photos hints at a flexible approach to meals, though this is not a guaranteed service and is not listed as a standard amenity. If you prefer to explore local flavors, the Sultanahmet area itself is home to a wealth of eateries and markets beyond the hotel. This property is distinctly adult oriented in terms of its policies. The hotel’s policies state that children are not allowed, and check in requires guests to be at least 18 years old. This makes Meddusa Hotel a strong pick for adults who want a calm, focused city break without family oriented routines or rush. The policies also indicate there is no capacity for extra beds or cots and the maximum occupancy is four guests per room. WiFi is available across the property at no extra charge, an essential for modern travelers who want to stay connected while they roam the maze of Istanbul’s neighborhoods. In terms of location value, Meddusa Hotel excels for travelers who want to be near the city’s famed historic sites and the vibrant street life that surrounds them. The Sultanahmet district offers easy foot access to ancient monuments, museums, and markets, while still being connected to transport routes for broader exploration. If your priority is to maximize sightseeing in a compact, characterful setting with daily dining options and a terrace that elevates the Istanbul experience, Meddusa Hotel ticks many of the right boxes. It is especially well suited for travelers who value location and a social yet simple on site dining ambiance, and for adults who come to Istanbul to enjoy a cultural, urban escape rather than a resort style holiday. Ideal guests include couples and solo travelers who want a central base with a memorable view from the terrace and uncomplicated comforts. It also appeals to visitors who appreciate a budget friendly option that does not sacrifice the charm and energy of old Istanbul. If you plan a stay focused on exploring the city’s historic heart and returning each evening to a relaxed, social venue with a strong sense of place, Meddusa Hotel offers a vivid, authentic urban experience that can help you make the most of a Sultanahmet stay.
