Guest Reviews
Large, clean room with two large beds.
The property was in a great place as there was a group of 12 us (6 in the hotel) celebrating at 40th on Canal Street yesterday. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to us all, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable. Great that the club was downstairs felt like you were in a house party and you can just take yourself to bed.

About This Hotel
New Union sits in the heart of Manchester’s vibrant gay village, a compact property with 14 en suite rooms stacked above a lively bar and nightclub. This is a stay built for those who want city energy right on their doorstep. Location first. The hotel is at 111 Princess Street, placing you in the action while still within easy reach of central sights. The Arndale shopping centre is a short walk away, making shopping and city dining convenient. The surrounding streets pulse with bars, cafés and venues that define Manchester’s nightlife, all within easy reach of your front door. In keeping with its city center focus, this is not a resort style property. There is no on site pool or beach area. Instead the appeal lies in a central base that puts you in the middle of Manchester’s cultural and social scene. After a day of exploring the Northern Quarter or Piccadilly Gardens, you can step back into the buzz of the bar below and unwind in a friendly, compact space that feels very much part of the city itself. Rooms are en suite and straightforward, designed to cover the essentials for a comfortable stay. Expect clean bathrooms with showers and modern conveniences, and simple but well kept sleeping areas that suit short breaks or weekend city escapes. Because this is a small property with 14 rooms, you can usually expect a personal touch, with a straightforward approach to service and a quick turnaround between guests. Food and beverage here revolves around the vibrant bar scene. The bar is a social hub with drinks deals and regular entertainment. Cabaret nights, karaoke sessions and disco evenings add a sense of theatre to your stay, making this a destination where evenings come alive. While the property itself focuses on the bar level, you are never far from the city wide dining and nightlife choices Manchester offers within a short walk. This hotel is essential for travelers who want to immerse themselves in Manchester’s nightlife and LGBT friendly area. It suits solo travelers seeking a central base, couples looking for a lively, convenient location, and visitors who want to be close to the action while keeping costs reasonable. The proximity to Arndale and central bus routes makes it easy to plan day trips or shopping breaks, while the close knit rooms provide a simple, affordable place to rest after evenings of socialising. Wellness and entertainment are practical here rather than spa oriented. The focus is on convenient, social living, with a lounge like atmosphere on the lower level and a nightly calendar of performances that keeps things interesting. Guests can expect a welcoming, friendly vibe where you can meet fellow travellers and share recommendations as you explore the city together. If you value a location that is true to Manchester, where you can meet people and experience the nightlife scene up close, this is a property that fits the bill. Ideal for those who want to be in the heart of the action, New Union is particularly suited to LGBT travelers, nightlife lovers and budget minded guests who still want a place with character and a bit of city glamour. It is less about luxury amenities and more about location, energy and sociable evenings that create memorable stays. If you plan to explore Manchester by night and keep daytime itineraries light and flexible, this compact hotel delivers a comfortable, convenient base with easy access to the citys best resources and experiences.
