Guest Reviews
Pera Palace is an historic establishment in the heart of Istanbul. I was delighted with my room which oozed with memories of Greta Garbo who stayed there. The soundproofing was fairly efficient in eliminating the noise of this busy, bustling city. A special thank you to Rachel and Selim at reception for their kindness.
A beautiful and carefully renovated hotel with a rich history. The staff were warm and welcoming. The lady at the spa reception was particularly sweet and went out of her way to offer wonderful service. Lovely breakfast and the bar was the perfect place for an aperitif before dinner. We only spent our last night in Istanbul here and it was so worth it!
Big but mattress needs turning
Sophisticated elegance
Location, lobby bar and interior - all fantastic.
Authentic historical hotel in the heart of the city. Feel the touch of Orient Express legend.
The Concierge team at Pera Palace is truly exceptional. Their level of care, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality made our stay unforgettable. From thoughtful recommendations to seamless arrangements, every request was handled with grace and professionalism. This is, without doubt, one of the finest Concierge teams I have ever encountered. Thank you for making our experience truly special.
Bed too soft
It was a real pleasure to be guest on this hotel, a true historical landmark of Istanbul.
We regret not staying at this hotel longer. It has a special atomosphere that only a historic authentic hotel can provide. We liked the nice bathtub with good water pressure, comfortable bed and the view. The recpetion is cozy and staff are great, always welcoming us with nice greetings. Special thanks to Esma and other stuff who helped us finding Airpods that we forgot. The Bar is also great. Will come back!
Room--we liked it--spacious, good view of river, comfortable, good cooling system. Liked the location, close to many restaurants.
Lovely old building with lots of history. Staff very helpful. Bed and bedding top quality Attaturk room is fascinating. In a noisy area but well sound proofed and lots of good restaurants nearby.
Location, services, history of the hotel
The hotel had a nice feel to it. We had a lovely big room with a great view over the Golden Horn. Breakfast was particularly amazing so don't rush it! The bar was cosy for a drink. It was close to one of the main shopping strips with lots of restaurants tucked into the nearby streets.
Beautiful hotel -museum where you can feel and breath the history, the main reason for our stay and it didn’t disappoint on that In a great area of Istanbul for exploring, ambling, enjoying. Breakfast fabulous- one of best ever. Orient bar stylish and comfortable. Midnight in the long salon incredibly atmospheric ..
Wonderful, historical hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Simple: 10/10 for me. I was looking for an historical hotel, and with its rich history (Orient Express, Ataturk etc.) the Pera Palace delivered in spades. The staff was exceptional, especially Gamze (spelling), who worked in the breakfast room. So friendly, knew our room number and breakfast preferences after day 1. Exceptional service! I also loved the fact that you can walk to most major attractions and see a lot of the city while doing so, and there is a metro station and taxi rank close by too. Highly recommended!
Gorgeous architecture and public areas

About This Hotel
Pera Palace invites you to linger in Istanbul’s living past. This special category museum hotel, originally opened in 1892, was created by the French Ottoman architect Alexander Vallaury. Its design fuses neoclassical lines with art nouveau detailing and a touch of oriental influence, a combination that gives the building a distinctive elegance while ensuring every guest feels at ease. Inside the public rooms and corridors, original architecture sits alongside thoughtfully updated furnishings that respect the house’s heritage. The property is known for its intimate scale, with just 46 rooms, which helps preserve a boutique atmosphere and a level of service that feels personal without feeling routine. The sense of stepping back in time is tempered by modern comfort, making a stay here ideal for visitors who value atmosphere as much as practicality. Set on Mesrutiyet cad. No:52, the hotel sits in a historic quarter where the building’s façade signals its past and the lobby welcomes you with refinement. Though the property operates as a museum hotel, it remains firmly connected to a living city. Guests can explore nearby streets filled with cultural touchpoints, and the central position makes it easy to combine a day of sightseeing with evenings spent within the atmospheric interiors of the palace. The on site swimming pool is a quiet focal point for relaxation. The pool area, visible in multiple photos, invites a refreshing dip after a day of wandering through Istanbul. Comfortable seating surrounds the pool, offering quiet corners to unwind with a drink or a good book as the city hums softly outside. While the pool is the anchor for leisure, the lounges and library spaces provide additional retreats where guests can pause, reflect and plan the next part of their itinerary. The 46 rooms at Pera Palace blend the building’s historic character with contemporary comfort. You will find bedrooms presented with a calm palette and well arranged living spaces that reflect the era the hotel celebrates. From cozy guest rooms to more expansive options, the accommodations are designed to feel intimate rather than generic. While the property preserves its historic charm, soft touches and modern conveniences ensure restful nights after busy days. Many rooms include inviting living areas and seating spaces that make it easy to unwind in privacy after a day of culture and exploration. Food and drink options are on site and oriented to convenience and refined taste. A restaurant offers lunch and dinner service, with a selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks available in the bar area. The lobby lounge provides a relaxed setting to enjoy a book from the library or a quiet conversation as you plan the next outing. In addition, the property features dining spaces where guests can savor a range of offerings in a stylish, comfortable environment. Families will appreciate the hotel’s welcoming policies. Children of any age are welcome, and options exist for cots and extra beds subject to availability. One policy states that one child up to two years old may stay free when using available cots, and another allows one child up to twelve years old to stay free when using existing beds. For older children from thirteen to seventeen, a charge applies when using existing beds, and there is a maximum of three guests per room with one extra bed and one cot allowed. These guidelines help families plan ahead and avoid surprises during their stay. While the property does not advertise a full spa, the atmosphere supports rest and relaxation. A library and comfortable living spaces invite quiet reading or a long afternoon break. The pool, lounges and dining venues offer gentle entertainment through design, curated views and a sense of refined leisure that suit a slower pace after a day of exploring urban Istanbul. The setting is ideal for travelers who value culture, conversation and a touch of glamour in a historic backdrop. This hotel is an excellent choice for culture lovers who want to immerse themselves in the story of the city, for couples seeking a romantic base with timeless flair, and for families who value a manageable size and thoughtful policies. With its museum ambience, 46 rooms and on site dining, Pera Palace provides a refined, memorable base for a city break that blends history with modern comfort. From the moment you step into the inviting lobby to the moment you close the door of your room, Pera Palace offers a sense of occasion without ceremony. It is a place to slow down, read a book in a quiet corner, linger over a meal or a drink, and plan the next day with the same curiosity that built this iconic building in 1892.
