About This Hotel
The Ascott is an AA awarded 19th century Victorian house set in the quiet suburb of Ellesmere Park, Eccles, just outside Manchester. The property presents a historic facade with the feel of a refined private residence, offering a calm retreat while keeping you connected to the city. With eight guest rooms, the house provides an intimate atmosphere where guests can unwind in a space that feels both classic and welcoming. Its small size encourages a personal touch, making every stay feel like a bespoke experience rather than a generic hotel visit. Location plays a central role in the appeal of The Ascott. It sits within easy reach of central Manchester while enjoying a more peaceful, residential setting. Salford Royal Hospital is only about 1.6 kilometres away, making this a convenient base for visitors with hospital appointments or those seeking a short but well located trip into the city. For travelers arriving by train, Eccles Railway Station is within a comfortable 10 minute walk, and a quick 7 minute train ride connects you to Manchester Victoria and the heart of the city. This combination of proximity to health services, accessibility by rail, and a tranquil neighbourhood makes the Ascott an ideal option for visitors who value ease of travel alongside a quiet, characterful stay. The house itself offers a classic Victorian ambience without sacrificing modern comfort. The exterior and interior design celebrate period features while ensuring guest rooms remain practical and comfortable. Photographs accompanying the listing highlight inviting seating areas in some rooms and a well organized layout across the accommodation, suggesting spaces designed for relaxation after a day of exploring or business meetings. The balance between historic charm and everyday usability is a key part of the editing narrative around The Ascott. Inside, you will find eight guest rooms that form the core of the experience. Each room is framed by the building’s historic character, and some rooms showcase distinct seating areas that invite guests to unwind with a book or a cup of tea. The focus here is on a comfortable, low-key environment where attention to small details creates a pleasant sleeping and living space after a day out. When it comes to getting a good night’s rest, the beds and linens, though not described in exact specifications, are presented in the property’s photography as a priority for guest comfort. The house keeps a simple, uncluttered approach to decor, allowing the architectural beauty of the Victorian structure to shine through. The result is a soothing atmosphere that supports a natural, restorative stay rather than a high energy, high spectacle experience. For dining and beverages, the listing features images that indicate presence of dining options and breakfast offerings, alongside photos of coffee and tea facilities. While the exact on-site operational details aren’t explicitly listed, the imagery suggests there are thoughtful food and drink elements available, either on site or in close proximity, designed to complement a relaxed stay. Guests who enjoy a leisurely breakfast or a casual drink will likely find a good balance of options within easy reach during their visit. Guest services and policies at The Ascott are tailored for a specific type of traveler. The property is work friendly with strong WiFi that supports remote work and study, a feature noted in the broader hotel information. Parking is complimentary and on site, with no need to reserve in advance, which adds a practical convenience for guests arriving by car. The front desk and common areas are designed to be quiet and comfortable spaces that support both downtime and small private meetings if needed. WiFi is available in all areas and is free of charge, making it easy to stay connected during your stay. The hotel also communicates clear policies that shape the guest experience. Ascott imposes a minimum check-in age of 21 and does not allow children, which indicates a property that leans toward couples, solo travelers, or professionals seeking a private, uncomplicated environment. The maximum occupancy is two guests per room, and there is no capacity for extra beds or cots. These policies help maintain a calm, uncluttered setting that many travelers value for a short break or a productive getaway. There is no curfew and guests can come and go as they please, adding a degree of flexibility for late arrivals or early returns. From a wellness and relaxation perspective, The Ascott emphasizes a peaceful stay rather than a full-service resort experience. The quiet neighbourhood, combined with convenient access to Manchester via a short rail ride, makes it a solid option for those who wish to balance tourism with quiet downtime. The property’s historic charm offers an alternative to larger city hotels, inviting guests to slow down and enjoy a more personalized, intimate lodging experience. Who is The Ascott ideal for? It suits travelers looking for an authentic Victorian feel in a smaller, characterful setting. It is particularly well suited for couples seeking a tranquil base from which to explore Manchester and its surroundings, or for professionals who want a quiet place to work and rest. The on-site or nearby dining hints, free WiFi, and on-site parking add practical benefits for a relaxed stay. It is not suited for families with children under the policy restrictions, but it excels as a private, intimate retreat for adults who value history, charm, and a convenient location near the city while staying in a more serene, residential atmosphere. In short, The Ascott offers a distinctive, compact heritage experience with strong access to Manchester. Its Victorian character, combined with practical conveniences like free parking and reliable WiFi, makes it an appealing choice for travelers who want a memorable base without the bustle of a larger city hotel. For guests who appreciate a personal touch and a stay that feels like a home away from home, The Ascott delivers a compelling combination of history, location, and understated comfort.
