The Empress hotel is a small and quaint hotel located in a very nice street in Fatih. The location is quiet and just a few meters away are many restaurants and shops! The location is perfect, nestled next to many main mosques and the sea. I enjoyed my stay here a lot due to the location and the friendliness and support from the staff. Transportation is not included however, I recommend getting this from the hotel as the price is fair. They were so accommodating and kind to my husband and I. If you are looking for quiet, this is the place to book!

Khalid was amazing, He helped us for early check-in. Very sweet and helpful person. After getting scammed by Yellow taxi from Sahiba Gocken airport I was devastated and tired because taxi took intentionally long route and gone around in area for 1000 times to get to hotel, charged triple price took 2.5 hours. I was literally about to cry when I reach to Hotel, Khalid helped us, reasaured about things around and how to get around and what to be care for. Thanks alot.

Very close to blue mosque, next to a good few cafes. The family room had 2 double beds and 1 single bed which was perfect. It’s good for the money and a good location.

About This Hotel

The Empress Theodora Hotel ll sits in the heart of the historic Sultanahmet district, a compact retreat that feels tranquil yet places Istanbul’s most famous sights within easy reach. This intimate property benefits from a prime location where ancient streets and iconic silhouettes set the scene for a memorable stay, making it an ideal base for travelers who want to immerse themselves in Istanbul’s rich past while enjoying modern comfort. Only a five minute stroll from Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, the hotel is surrounded by centuries of history. Guests can wander through narrow lanes that are filled with character, passing by local cafés and bakeries as they make their way to some of the city’s most celebrated monuments. The neighborhood exudes a sense of place that everyday hotel experiences rarely match, giving visitors a genuine sense of stepping into a living museum rather than a scripted tourist experience. A standout feature is the terrace that provides views across the Marmara Sea. This outdoor space offers a peaceful spot to take in the maritime panorama as the city’s bustle fades into the background. It is the kind of setting that invites a slow morning with a cup of coffee or a relaxed evening after a day exploring nearby sights, turning downtime into a small celebration of location and atmosphere. Inside, the hotel keeps things simple and welcoming. Free Wi Fi is available across all areas, and a 24 hour front desk stands ready to assist with any request or recommendation. The small scale of the property fosters a sense of attentiveness from staff, with a warm, local sensibility that many guests associate with a boutique experience. The property’s nine rooms are designed to be comfortable rather than showy, with a focus on practical, calming spaces that suit short or longer stays alike. Room by room, you will find thoughtful touches that speak to everyday comfort. The photos and listings indicate beds that promise a good night’s sleep, accompanied by seating areas that create a natural space for relaxing with a book or planning the next day’s adventure. Air conditioning is shown as a standard feature, a welcome relief during warm Istanbul summers, and many rooms include a living room area that enhances the sense of space. Storage is practical too, with wardrobes and ample room to unpack and settle in. Towel sets and other essentials are part of the routine, helping guests feel prepared from the moment they arrive. As with many intimate properties, the emphasis here is on ease and accessibility rather than a long list of in house facilities. The listing does not detail on site dining options, so guests who enjoy meals in house should plan accordingly. The surrounding district does offer a range of dining possibilities, and the terrace itself serves as a pleasant backdrop for a quiet moment after a day of sightseeing. The absence of a large, dedicated restaurant is offset by the promise of a welcoming ambience and the convenience of a central, walkable location. For families and groups, the hotel maintains a flexible approach within its policy framework. Children of any age are welcome, underscoring the property’s family friendly stance. There is a practical cap of five guests when using existing beds, and the listing notes that there is no capacity for extra beds or cots. This makes it important to plan ahead if you are traveling with a larger party. There is no age restriction for check in, and check out is by 12:00. Pets are not allowed, a consideration for guests with allergies or those seeking a low maintenance stay. The policies also specify that guests should add the number of children in the group and their ages to see accurate pricing and occupancy details, ensuring transparency before you book. While the property does not advertise a spa, wellness center, or extensive entertainment program, the overall experience is enhanced by its location, its terrace with Marmara Sea views and the efficient, attentive service that has earned high marks in guest reviews. The property has earned favorable recognition for location and staff, with an overall strong guest rating that reflects consistent performance across the core pillars of comfort, value and service. Overall, The Empress Theodora Hotel ll is ideal for travelers who prioritize location, accessibility and a calm retreat after days spent wandering through Istanbul’s historic heart. It is particularly well suited to couples and small families who value a central base, a comforting room to return to, and the ability to explore iconic sights on foot. If you crave a simple, sincere hotel experience that aligns with the feel of Sultanahmet rather than a flashy, destination hotel, this intimate property offers a compelling choice with a memorable terrace view over the Marmara Sea and a warm, dedicated team ready to help make the most of your stay.
