Guest Reviews
For price point good location around 20 minutes walk to oxford central. Really friendly and helpful staff.
Situated very close to Oxford town and we were able to park the car.
Host quick to respond, friendly and helpful. Facilities conveniently located for train station. Comfortable.
Comfortable, accessible
A spacious, spotlessly clean room and shower room with a very comfortable bed. Double glazing means it is quiet despite being on the Botley Road. Having read about the "grab and go" breakfast, our expectations of breakfast were low. We were astonished by the choice available - a huge selection of teas, an excellent coffee machine, a wide range of cereals, jams, cheese, ham, boiled eggs, yoghurt, juices. It is a "help yourself" breakfast, but an impressive one. Good value.
Location was excellent with parking
Hospitality and cooperation of the host is incredible
I stayed there for two nights and with breakfast included in the price I thought it was very good value for money.
Close to town. Comfortable bed
Basically everything in the guest house. Particularly the self-serve breakfast.
Breakfast was fine. Location is excellent, an easy walk to the historic city centre
Cozy bedrooms, very helpful staff
Quiet location. Both park and ride, and city centre were walking distance for me. Good breakfast.
Cozy, breakfast basic but complete, Amazing shower pressure!

About This Hotel
Situated on Botley Road in Oxford, The Osney Arms Guest House places you in a historic setting within easy reach of the city centre. The area around the guest house is steeped in history, offering a charming backdrop for a traditional Oxford visit. It is less than two miles from the grounds of Oxford University, making it a convenient base for scholars, culture lovers, and travelers who want to immerse themselves in the city’s renowned atmosphere. The property comprises ten rooms, each described as having a unique, elegant design. That emphasis on individuality translates into a stay that feels both intimate and refined, with spaces that reward quiet moments after a day spent exploring colleges, museums, and the historic streets of Oxford. Inside the Osney Arms the emphasis is on comfort and character rather than a uniform hotel feel. The small, intimate scale of ten guest rooms fosters a welcoming atmosphere where guests can feel at home quickly. The lack of a large lobby or business orientated amenities is balanced by the clear focus on personal service and a memorable room experience. Guests will notice design details that elevate the simple act of staying in a city guest house, with each room offering its own distinctive touch while maintaining a cohesive sense of calm and comfort throughout the property. A dining area is featured in the property photos, hinting at on site dining spaces that can be used for meals or light refreshments. While the listing does not specify a full service restaurant, the on site dining area provides a practical option for guests who wish to enjoy a relaxed meal without leaving the building. For those who enjoy outdoor space, a garden is visible in the photo gallery, presenting a tranquil spot to unwind or to begin the day with a little fresh air before heading out to see Oxford’s attractions. Practical conveniences are thoughtfully included. The Osney Arms offers WiFi in all areas at no extra charge, a welcome feature for travelers who need to stay connected while planning their day in Oxford or catching up with family back home. Free public parking on site enhances the convenience for guests arriving by car; note that parking reservations are not possible, so planning ahead is helpful if you are traveling during peak times. Security and payment details are straightforward. A credit card is required to secure bookings, which aligns with common hospitality practices. Everything feels designed to make a smooth stay, from the check in and check out process to the simple rules that keep the guest house efficient and comfortable for all guests. The Osney Arms is mindful of family needs and policy details. Children of any age are welcome at this property, which makes it a friendly option for families who want to explore Oxford without the overhead of a larger city hotel. However, there is a maximum occupancy of two guests per room, and there is no capacity for extra beds or cots. The policy documents indicate that one child up to 11 years old can stay for a reduced rate when using existing beds, but pricing and occupancy can vary based on the option you book. For older children, charges align with adult pricing. The property is not pet friendly, so planning accordingly is important for guests with four legged companions. Check in times run from 16:00 to 23:30, and check out is by 10:30. This flexible window accommodates late arrivals or day trips, which is particularly helpful for visitors arriving by rail or coach to Oxford. The guest house does not position itself as a modern resort, but rather as a comfortable, character filled base from which to experience the city. The combination of a central location, unique room aesthetics, and practical conveniences makes The Osney Arms a solid choice for travelers who value authenticity and ease over grand scale. Who is this hotel ideal for? It is an excellent pick for couples seeking a quiet, atmospheric stay with easy access to Oxford University and the historic city centre. It also suits travelers who want to explore on foot or by bicycle, day trips to nearby colleges, and those who appreciate well designed rooms that feel intimate rather than corporate. Families with careful planning around occupancy and bed arrangements will find it a friendly option, provided they are aware of the two person per room limit and the bed policy. If you value a convenient location, a garden space to enjoy some outdoor time, and clear information about parking, WiFi and check in, The Osney Arms offers a thoughtful, comfortable option for a city break in Oxford. In summary, The Osney Arms Guest House delivers a calm and characterful base in a historic Oxford area. With uniquely designed rooms, a practical on site dining area and garden, plus easy access to the city centre and university grounds, it provides a straightforward option for travelers who want a personal, well located stay in one of England’s most storied university cities.
