Guest Reviews

Angela 9.0

Comfortable bed, lovely sheets Good location, close to centre of Clifton

Elizabeth 8.0

The Rodney Hotel is in a central location in Clifton Village and close to the Suspension Bridge. Also close to bus stops so you could leave your car at the hotel and travel in and out of the centre of Bristol very easily. We had a large room overlooking the garden. The pillows were very soft and comfortable. The staff were lovely, especially Maisie at Reception. They said treat the place like your own home so we wore our slippers at breakfast (very risque..). The Rodney was also brilliant value for money.

About This Hotel

The Rodney Hotel Clifton Village sits quietly in one of Bristol’s most cherished corners, a short stroll from the heart of Clifton. This intimate 3 star property embraces a classic and welcoming feel, with just ten rooms arranged around a friendly reception and communal spaces. It is the sort of place that appeals to guests who want a convenient base from which to explore Bristol’s historic streets and top landmarks without the formality of a large hotel. From its tucked away position in Clifton Village, you are within easy reach of signature sights. The Clifton Suspension Bridge, an iconic symbol of the city, is only a few minutes away on foot, while the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery and the University of Bristol are also nearby. The area is known for its historic architecture, leafy streets and a village atmosphere, offering a pleasant contrast to Bristol’s busier centre. Guests benefit from a central location that makes it simple to combine sightseeing with relaxed evenings in a compact, characterful setting. On site amenities focus on comfort and character rather than large scale facilities. There is no mention of an on site pool or beach at the property and the hotel concentrates on its city centre location and guest experience in Clifton. For guests seeking water easy access or resort style relaxation, a city itinerary with nearby parks and riverside walks provides ample opportunities to unwind after a day of exploring. The absence of a large spa or pool is not a drawback here, as the surroundings offer a different kind of rest and recreation. Room comfort and style are central to the Rodney Hotel experience. The property comprises ten rooms, each designed to offer a restful stay after a day on Bristol’s pavements. The listing does not provide renovation details, but the intimate scale of the hotel works well for guests who prefer a quieter, more personal ambience. Expect thoughtfully arranged spaces that feel homely rather than hotel chain, with intact period features that add to Clifton Village’s charm. The compact size also means attentive service and a sense of belonging that larger properties may lack. Dining and beverages are part of the character here. The photography accompanying the listing highlights food and drink themes, with references to coffee and tea facilities and meals that range from light offerings to dinners. While there is no explicit description of an on site restaurant in the provided data, guests can look forward to enjoying meals or refreshments in a nearby village setting or in the in house options suggested by the gallery. For those who like to start or end the day with a warm drink or a small bite, the opportunities nearby Clifton Village are plentiful, including independent cafes and traditional pubs in the surrounding streets. Family friendliness is clearly part of the hotel’s profile. Children of any age are welcome, and the policy notes that one cot or extra bed may be accommodated depending on the booking option, subject to availability. All children under 18 are charged as adults at this property, with a cap on total guests. There is no capacity for extra beds beyond the stated limits, and the maximum occupancy is two guests per room. For families traveling with infants, the option to stay with existing beds and cots provides flexibility, while the central location keeps everything within easy reach. Wellness and entertainment in this setting come from the city itself. Bristol’s cultural institutions, markets, theatres and riverside walks are within easy reach, giving guests a chance to unwind by exploring at a relaxed pace. While the hotel does not advertise spa facilities, the Clifton area offers tranquil parks and picturesque streets that invite leisurely strolls. Evening entertainment is better discovered outside the hotel, in the area’s bustling cafes, theatres and music venues, all reachable on foot or by a short taxi ride. Who is The Rodney Hotel ideal for? It suits travelers who want a central, character filled base for a Bristol break. It is well suited to couples and solo explorers looking for a quiet, convenient location close to Clifton’s natural and architectural highlights. Families visiting Bristol with children will appreciate the welcoming policies, the proximity to major sights, and the option to manage costs with the building’s 10-room format and on-site parking. In short, this is a thoughtful choice for guests who value location, intimate service and a distinctly Clifton Village atmosphere. Practical details that matter when planning your stay include check in and check out times. Check in at 15:00 and check out by 11:00. Private parking on site is available at GBP 10 per day, and WiFi is free in all areas. Pets are allowed on request with potential charges. For families, the policy notes that there is no capacity for extra beds and that promotions for children vary by booking type. The Rodney Hotel offers a warm, authentic Bristol experience, delivered in a compact, timeless setting that invites guests to slow down and enjoy the city at a human pace.
