About This Hotel

The Speech House is a hotel in the middle of the Forest of Dean, near Coleford. Built in 1676 as a royal hunting lodge for Charles II, it has been refurbished but keeps its period features. The Wye Valley is about 5 miles away.

Rooms are in the main house or courtyard; many face the forest and some have four-poster beds. All have Freeview TV and tea and coffee supplies. The beamed Verderer’s Court restaurant serves modern European food, the Orangery lighter meals.

There is 24-hour reception, parking, bike hire and a picnic area. Gloucester and Chepstow are 30 minutes’ drive. It suits walkers, cyclists and history lovers.
