Many of London's best-known sights sit along the River Thames, and the easiest way to see them is from the water. This Thames hop-on hop-off river pass gives you unlimited river travel over two consecutive days: get off at any pier to explore the area, then catch a later boat and carry on. It is also a practical way to cross the city without sitting in traffic, and a pleasant change from the Underground when you want to see where you are going.

What you will see from the river

Along the way you pass the Palace of Westminster, the London Eye, the National Theatre, Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe, HMS Belfast, The Shard, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf. Many of them are a short walk from a pier, so you can easily combine the cruise with museums, markets and parks. The journey from Westminster Pier to Greenwich Pier takes about an hour, and Greenwich itself, with the Cutty Sark and its royal park, is easily worth half a day.

On board

There is an open-air upper deck for panoramic views and a comfortable indoor saloon with large windows for cooler or rainy days. The crew give live commentary in English, and an audio guide app is available in 11 languages: Spanish, Italian, French, German, English, Polish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and Mandarin. Every boat has toilets and a licensed bar selling snacks and soft and alcoholic drinks.

Planning tips

The pass is valid on two consecutive days only, so it cannot be split across separate dates. Timetables change with the seasons, so check the time of the last boat with the ticket office or the crew, especially in winter when services finish earlier. Tips, food and drinks are not included, and there is no hotel pickup. Families of two adults and up to three children can ask the operator about its separate family river pass.

How booking works

Choose your date and number of guests and send your request; at this stage we only place a hold on your card. We check availability with the operator, email you once your place is confirmed and take the payment at that point. If the request cannot be met, we let you know by email and your card is not charged.
