Small-Group Red Tour of Northern Cappadocia

The Red Tour is the day trip most first-time visitors to Cappadocia choose. This small-group Red Tour shows you the fairy chimneys, open-air museums and viewpoints of northern Cappadocia at a calmer pace than the big coach tours, with more time to ask your guide questions.

What you will see

The tour focuses on the best-known sights around Göreme, Uçhisar and Avanos. Open-air museums with rock-cut churches and frescoes, fairy chimneys in all kinds of shapes, panoramic viewpoints looking across to Uçhisar's rock castle, and Avanos, famous for its pottery, are the main stops of the day. At each one your guide explains the history, culture and geology of the region.

What is included

Hotel pickup and drop-off, a professional guide, lunch and museum entrance fees are all included in the price. Soft drinks, bottled water and alcoholic drinks are paid separately during the day.

Pickup times

Pickups from hotels outside Göreme are between 08:50 and 09:30; after 09:30 the vehicles come to Göreme to collect guests from hotels there. Infants travel on an adult's lap. The tour is not recommended for travellers with poor cardiovascular health, as there is some walking and climbing at the stops.

Practical tips

There is walking and some stairs during the day, so wear comfortable shoes, and in summer bring a hat and sun cream. Ask your guide about the photography rules inside the museums before you go in.
