Stops of the day

At Göreme Open-Air Museum you see churches carved into the rock and their frescoes, and at Pigeon Valley the dovecotes cut into the cliffs and the wide view. Uçhisar's rock castle and fairy chimney formations and the pottery workshops of Avanos are also on the programme. The highlight is Kaymaklı Underground City, where you descend through levels carved into the rock while your guide explains how people lived and stored food down here.

Private or small group

When booking you can choose a private tour or a small-group tour. On the small-group tour, pickup is between 09:00 and 10:00; on the private tour you are collected at the time you request and can shape the day flexibly with your guide.

Practical tips

The underground city has low ceilings and narrow passages, so wear comfortable shoes. The tour is not recommended for travellers with poor cardiovascular health. Take a light cardigan for the cool air underground.
