Once the summer crowds have gone, Antalya shows a different face. The sun is still warm and the sea still inviting, but the beaches are calm, the museums quiet and the city returns to its own rhythm. Antalya in November is one of the most enjoyable times of year if you want to combine a beach break with sightseeing. This guide covers the weather, the sea, which hotels stay open and what to do.

Weather and sea in November

In November, daytime temperatures in Antalya rise above 20°C on most days, so you can often walk around in a T-shirt at midday. Mornings and evenings are cooler, so pack a light jacket or cardigan. As the month goes on, rainy days become more frequent; rain tends to come in showers, followed by sunshine. The days are shorter and the sun sets early in the afternoon.

The sea releases its summer warmth slowly. In the first half of November it is still warm enough for most people to swim, cooling towards the end of the month. Visitors from the UK, used to cooler water, often swim happily even in November. If you are staying at a resort, choosing one with a heated or indoor pool adds comfort.

Which hotels are open?

Some resorts in the beach towns around Antalya close at the end of October or in November. However, city-centre hotels, many of the large properties in Konyaaltı and Lara and the golf hotels in Belek stay open all year. When booking for November, check the hotel’s opening dates and which restaurants, pools and activities are running. In winter, some hotels offer half board or bed and breakfast rather than all-inclusive.

To see which hotels are open, search with your dates on our Antalya hotels page; the results only show available hotels. For packages with flights, hotel and transfers together, have a look at our holiday packages.

Things to do in Antalya in November

Kaleiçi and the city centre

The cooler weather is ideal for exploring Kaleiçi, Antalya’s historic old town, on foot. Enter through Hadrian’s Gate, wander down narrow lanes lined with Ottoman mansions to the old harbour and stop at small cafés along the way. Walks that are exhausting in summer become a pleasure in November.

Antalya Museum

Near Konyaaltı, the Antalya Museum is one of Turkey’s most impressive archaeology museums, famous for its statues from Perge. It is a perfect way to spend a rainy day.

The Düden waterfalls

The Lower Düden Waterfall in our cover photo is where the Düden river drops from the cliffs at Lara straight into the sea. The Upper Düden Waterfall, north of the city, sits in a cool, leafy park. With the autumn rain, the falls run fuller.

Ancient cities

Perge, Aspendos and Termessos on its mountainside are open-air sites that are hard work in the summer heat. November is one of the best months to explore them in comfort. The ancient theatre at Aspendos is considered one of the best-preserved Roman theatres in the world.

Boat and nature trips

Boat trips and some outdoor activities run less often out of season, so check the dates of the tour you want in advance. You will find guided tours with hotel pick-up on our Antalya tours page.

Golf

Belek is one of Europe’s leading golf destinations, and autumn, with its mild weather, is the favourite season for golf. That is why the golf hotels are busy in November. You can find them on our Belek hotels page.

Getting to Antalya in November

Direct flights from London to Antalya are fewer in winter and grouped on certain days of the week, while connections via Istanbul run all year. Compare options on our London to Antalya flights page. For fixed-price transfers from the airport to your hotel, see Antalya Airport transfers. For more detail, read our London to Antalya guide.

What to pack

  • Summer clothes for the day, a light jacket or jumper for the evening
  • Comfortable walking shoes for the ancient sites and Kaleiçi
  • A compact umbrella or a light raincoat
  • Swimwear: for the sea in early November, and for a heated pool later
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses: the November sun still burns

A short November itinerary

On a three-night break, spend day one walking Kaleiçi and the old harbour, day two at the ancient cities of Perge and Aspendos, and day three at the Düden waterfalls and the Antalya Museum. On a week-long holiday, add Termessos, a nature day around Kemer and a few lazy beach days. If you get a rainy day, simply move the museum to that day.

Who is November for?

November suits couples looking to escape the crowds, retirees, culture lovers and golfers. Because it falls in term time, fewer families travel, which means quieter hotels and sights. A 3-night package is a good starting point for a short autumn break, and 7 nights for a more restful holiday.

Eating out in November

Autumn is a lovely time for food in Antalya. Pomegranates and citrus fruit come into season, and you will see freshly squeezed juice stalls all over the city. Fish restaurants by the old harbour and in Konyaaltı are pleasant at lunchtime, when the sun is warm enough to sit outside, while evenings are better spent in the cosy restaurants of Kaleiçi.

The verdict

Antalya in November is a great choice if you want sun, sea and history without the summer heat and crowds. If you cannot decide where to stay, our Konyaaltı or Lara guide can help.
