Donna was lovely and our room was great, loved the little extras that were complementary like the water and milk was a really lovely touch and completely appreciated.
This was a very friendly place with friendly staff and felt like home from home. The added extras like the breakfast items, milk, bottle opener and fridge in the room gave it a nice touch.

Hosts were extremely friendly, nothing too much trouble. Lovely room, spacious with fabulous shower and en-suite. Fridge with complimentary items, milk, fruit juice, and pastries.Everything is very very clean.. It is easy to find and great to have free onsite parking in Whitby. I left an item behind which host is kindly posting back to me... will book again for sure. They obviously have a lot of pride in themselves and in their business.

Friendly owner, even when we were really late to check in, proper milk water and juice in the fridge, decent sized coffee mugs and breakfast snacks, the little extra thought definitely went a long way for me😊😊
The location for us was spot on, we don't mind a walk and didn't have any problem with the hill coming back from the town. The little extras in the room (milk, pastries, juice and water were a lovely gesture and much appreciated.

About This Hotel
Launceston Villa sits in an elegant Edwardian house on Prospect Hill, offering a calm room only stay in the heart of Whitby. The property comprises four guest rooms, each equipped with the practical comforts travelers expect for a straightforward, relaxed break. The reception style is warm and unpretentious, with an emphasis on easy, unhurried stays in a historic setting. Location is the standout attribute here. You are within a brief stroll of Whitby’s town centre, the railway station and the harbour, making it simple to explore the town both day and night. The convenience of being so close to the harbour means you can enjoy maritime views and sea air with minimal travel time, and you can easily pop back to the villa for a quiet moment between adventures. Whitby is known for its coastal atmosphere and waterfront charm, and Launceston Villa places you right at the doorstep of that experience while letting you return to the calm and privacy of a small guesthouse. Rooms and comfort are straightforward and practical. Each of the four rooms includes free WiFi and a television with a DVD player, offering entertainment options after a day on the coast or in town. The room only approach means you won’t find on site dining here, but that also gives you the freedom to discover Whitby’s many eateries at your own pace. The Edwardian character of the building brings a certain timeless elegance to your stay, with rooms designed to feel welcoming and comfortable for short breaks or longer explorations of the area. The absence of implements beyond the essentials keeps the focus on restful nights and uncomplicated stays that suit travelers who value location and simplicity. Guest safety and policies are clear and consistent. There is no capacity for extra beds or cots, and children are not allowed here, which reflects the property’s intimate, two-person room design. The maximum occupancy per room is two guests, making this a solid choice for couples or solo travelers seeking quiet, private accommodation. Check in is between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM, with check out by 10:30 AM, a schedule that supports relaxed mornings and easy day trips around Whitby. Free private parking on site is available without the need for a reservation, a valuable convenience for guests exploring the coastline by car. WiFi is accessible throughout the property, so you can stay connected whether you are catching up on work or sharing your coastal experiences with friends and family. The villa’s approach to food is aligned with its room only offering. While there are ample dining options in Whitby, this stay emphasizes the ease of a self directed itinerary. You can enjoy mornings at a slower pace, knowing you can easily head out for breakfast or brunch in the surrounding streets, then return to your quiet, well located retreat after your daily explorations. If you value proximity to the town and harbour, quick access to public transport links, and a comfortable place to rest between adventures, Launceston Villa delivers a reliable and pleasant base for your Whitby visit. For relaxation and leisure, the focus here is on convenience and calm rather than extensive on site facilities. The property’s small size and its Edwardian charm create a romantic, uncomplicated backdrop for couples and travelers who appreciate a traditional lodging experience with modern essentials such as reliable WiFi and a private room with a DVD option. The harbour and town are just moments away, inviting gentle strolls, seafood bites, and sunset moments along Whitby’s historic waterfront. This hotel is ideal for travelers who prioritize location, privacy, and a straightforward, comfortable room experience. It suits couples seeking a quiet base from which to explore Whitby’s coastal scenery and historic streets, as well as solo travelers who want a simple, well located retreat with dependable amenities. If you value an Edwardian atmosphere, a short walk to the harbour and town, and the flexibility of exploring Whitby dining options without repercussions, Launceston Villa offers a reliable and inviting option. With four well kept rooms, attentive staff, and a setting that reflects Whitby’s authentic seaside character, it represents a thoughtful choice for those who want a peaceful, unpretentious stay in a prime location.
