Room very clean. Breakfast superb. Excellent hosts.
The room was lovely We had everything we needed and the bed was really comfortable. The location is great The beach is two minutes away and the town maybe five, depending on which way you walk. The hosts are so welcoming and nice. They really made us feel at home, even though we arrived later than we expected. The breakfast is good and there’s plenty of choice.
Breakfast was excellent cooked to high standards , room was clean good sized shower was good size too. Great location for getting into town centre
The owner of the hotel was absolutely amazing, everyone at the hotel was very kind and friendly. They even got me some oat milk for tea and breakfast when I mentioned I'm lactose intolerant. That is another thing though, the breakfast! It was included in the price and it was delicious. My room was cosy and adorable. Otherwise it's a great location just about 10 minutes from the train station and close to the town centre.

We were made very welcome. We were given advice on places to eat. The room was spacious and comfortable. Yvonne and Keith were really good hosts and breakfast was very good. We were five minutes walk from the Pavillion where we had booked to see a show.

The simple, well-kept interior is complemented by the warm path of hospitality that marks every guest interaction, making it easy to unwind whether you are visiting for a short break or a longer unwind by the coast. Location is a key feature here. The Europa is set on the West Cliff in Whitby, a striking vantage point that places you in a distinctive part of the town. The official address is 20 Hudson Street, YO21 3EP, which anchors you in a convenient, easy-to-find location while still preserving a sense of quiet retreat. The property benefits from a scenic setting that invites gentle strolls along the cliff line and evenings spent listening to the sea breeze. Inside, some rooms offer views from the property, a small but meaningful touch that enhances a memorable stay without ever feeling over grand. Comfort at The Europa centers on its four en suite rooms. Each space is described as homely and well appointed, designed to deliver a restful night after days spent exploring Whitby. The rooms are part of a Victorian house that has been kept in good order, with careful attention to maintaining character while ensuring modern comfort. Guests can expect reliable bedding, clean en suites, and a calm, uncluttered ambiance that helps you recharge. The property’s smaller size contributes to a personalized experience, where staff can offer local tips and help personalise aspects of your visit to suit your plans. Food and drink are a highlight. The Europa provides a freshly prepared breakfast using locally sourced produce wherever possible, underscoring a commitment to quality and regional produce. This thoughtful touch sets the tone for the day and pairs well with Whitby’s own coastal character. The photos and descriptions emphasize breakfast and the option to start mornings with a robust, satisfying meal, so you can fuel up for sightseeing, cliff walks, or a relaxed morning by the room window. The hotel is clearly designed for adults rather than families. Policies specify that children are not allowed, there is no capacity for extra beds or cots, and the maximum number of guests per room is two. This makes The Europa an ideal choice for couples or adult travelers seeking a peaceful, intimate base with a refined pace. WiFi is available in the rooms free of charge, and public parking nearby offers a practical solution for guests arriving by car, though reservations are not possible and charges may apply. Check-in is from 14:00 to 18:00, and check-out is from 09:00 to 10:00, which provides a flexible window for those who want a leisurely departure or an early start. The property also notes that the minimum age for check-in is 18, reinforcing its adult-focused atmosphere. In terms of ambience, The Europa cultivates a calm, unpretentious charm. It does not promise luxury theatrics, but it does promise a clean, comfortable stay with considerate service and a sense of staying in a well-kept historic home. The location on the West Cliff invites guests to slow down and appreciate Whitby from a quiet vantage point while still being within reach of the town’s characterful streets and shoreline activities. Reviewers consistently praise its superb reliability, thoughtful service, and the overall quality of the stay, making it a dependable pick for a calm seaside break.
