Friendly proprietor, good location on the coast, breakfast excellent
Great place to stay and in a great location, coupled with amazing greeting from owner. Staff very attentive and provided good service. Breakfast was very tasty. We will definitely stay again but would upgrade to a room with a Seaview next time. First time in Scarborough for my partner and she just fell in love with the place.
Super Room Staff very helpful
Nice and cosy , clean, friendly staff and good breakfast
Just fabulous
The hotel was very clean and quiet. The breakfast was very nice and a good choice of food hot and cold .lovely views over Scarborough. Also the staff we're very friendly.
Pleasantly surprised to be upgraded from a single to a double room. The room was small but had everything I could possibly need. Every part of the hotel is spotlessly clean and comfortable and the whole breakfast experience is exceptionally good. The young waitresses at breakfast are really pleasant and professional.
Room was very accommodating with all creature comforts and practical facilities catered for. Cleanliness was excellent and beds very comfortable. It's location was ideal being a short walk to town but far enough away for some peace and serenity. With the Italian gardens just over the road it was nice to be able to pop over and unwind in beautiful surroundings. Breakfast was the stand out feature of the stay, I can see why Mansion House has won awards for it! Almost every option catered for with fresh produce and excellent hosting (5*'s). The host couldn't have been more accommodating when we arrived a little early. All in all a lovely place to stay and will certainly be considered when we come back (our little boy had a lovely time!). Thank you.
Hotel was very clean and the staff were absolutely lovely not to mention the breakfast it was gorgeous Definitely be back, my little girl normally doesnt settle at over night stays but she loved this hotel
Location well maintained and comfortable doggy friendly
The very warm welcome we received from the owner was typical of a high standard such as this. It's the small touches like the welcome drinks that make this guest hours stand out from your run of the mill hotels. The room was very clean on arrival and coffee/tea/etc. was topped up daily. It's no surprise that they have received awards for their breakfast. The service and the quality of the food was terrific with a superb level of choice. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting the area.
Lovely room, friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Great location. Would stay again and definitely recommend.

Free WiFi is available throughout the property and there is free public parking nearby, making it easy to explore Scarborough by car or on foot. This is a true coastal retreat designed for easy moments and memorable views. Location is a standout feature here. The mansion sits on Scarborough’s Esplanade in the South Cliff area, so guests wake to sea breezes and picturesque panoramas. The setting makes it ideal for guests who want to stroll along the coast, enjoy harbour vistas, and soak up sea air straight from the door. The address is 45 Esplanade, South Cliff YO11 2AY, placing you in a classic seaside town with the conveniences of a central location. From sunlit mornings to golden evenings, the surroundings create a calm backdrop for a relaxing break or a family getaway. A strong focus on sea life and coastal scenery comes through in the guest experience. Many photos highlight sea view and harbour views, garden perspectives, and the general sense of being near the water. The property is well suited to guests who want to immerse themselves in the coastline, with the option to enjoy sunset lighting and natural light that floods common areas and select rooms. For beach lovers, the imagery and location emphasize a direct connection to the shore and the natural beauty of Scarborough, making it easier to plan short trips to the waterfront during a stay. The rooms at Mansion House are designed for comfort and flexible use. The building hosts 19 rooms that cater to a range of needs, from compact doubles to larger suites with distinct living areas. The interior language in the imagery suggests bright, welcoming spaces with beds, seating areas, and in some cases dedicated dining or living zones. Bathrooms are equipped with the essentials and towels, and you will find wardrobe space that helps keep things organized during your stay. Importantly, several photos depict kitchens or kitchenettes, with elements such as coffee or tea facilities, ovens, stoves, and even dishwashers. This indicates that some units offer self-catering capabilities, which is a real bonus for families or guests looking for added convenience and flexibility during longer stays. In-room comfort is paired with practical amenities to ensure convenience was not compromised. What you see in the images supports a sense of modern practicality: well appointed bathrooms, comfortable bedding, and seating areas that invite relaxation after a day by the sea. The presence of living areas in several room configurations means families or small groups can stay together without feeling crowded. Wardrobe space and thoughtful layout choices contribute to a sense of order and comfort, while the general design language remains consistent with a traditional seaside property that has been refreshed to feel bright and welcoming rather than strictly historic. Food and drink are part of the overall experience at Mansion House. The imagery and tags point to on-site dining options including breakfast offerings and general food and drinks, with references to a restaurant or places to eat. Continental breakfast is highlighted in the photos, suggesting a morning start that is easy and satisfying before a day of exploration. In addition to breakfast, guests can expect to encounter dining settings that support casual meals and social moments, complemented by coffee and tea facilities in rooms or nearby lounges. The combination of options gives guests flexibility whether they prefer a quick bite before heading out to the coast or a leisurely sit-down meal. Family friendliness is clearly part of the ethos here. The hotel welcomes children of all ages, and policies indicate a maximum occupancy of six guests. There is no capacity for extra beds or cots, which is important to consider when planning a family stay. These rules are accompanied by practical notes about pricing and occupancy that help families budget accurately. The property also communicates that there can be variations in the number of cots or extra beds depending on the option booked, which is useful guidance for planning a multi-generational break. For relaxation and entertainment, Mansion House offers more than just a place to sleep. A communal lounge or TV room appears in the imagery, suggesting quiet spaces for unwinding with a book, a film, or a shared chat after a day by the sea. The overall vibe is one of simple, accessible comfort, with seating areas in rooms and common spaces designed for easy social moments. The setting is ideal for couples seeking a peaceful coastal escape as well as families looking for a compact, well-equipped base for sea-side adventures. Extras that refine the experience include free WiFi across the property and nearby parking, both valued by guests who want a smooth arrival and flexible exploration days. Pets are allowed with possible charges, which broadens the appeal for travelers who want to bring a four legged companion on a seaside break. The property’s strong guest reviews reinforce its appeal, with a superb overall rating and consistently positive feedback about location, staff, cleanliness, and value for money. Who is Mansion House ideal for? This is the kind of place that suits a waterfront short break, a family escape with a compact footprint, or a couple seeking a quiet coastal retreat close to Scarborough’s attractions. With 19 rooms, flexible configurations that include kitchen facilities in some units, and a location that places sea views and harbour scenery at the core of the experience, Mansion House is a smart choice for travelers who want a characterful base on the Scarborough coast. It is equally well suited to guests who appreciate free WiFi, convenient parking nearby, and a warm, personal touch from a dedicated team.
