Guest Reviews

We had a good size room which was warm and comfortable and had lots of potential. It looked out onto the busy main road but was not a problem for us ad did not choise it for peace and quiet. Neither were the seagulls mentioned in other reviews its what you expect in a seaside town. The location is central on a hill but was very convenient for everything in the town and the sea front. Our host was helpfull and friendly and gave us advice on best restaurants around. We would stay again as clean and value for money ideal for a break away. ps. The whole guest house always smelt lovely

Host was welcoming and helped with some recommendations for things like parking and where to eat. Location is very close to the front, but was still quiet at night. Bed was comfortable, if a bit smaller than expected.

The property is stunning, nicely decorated and you can tell the quality of all the furnishings. The cleanliness of this guesthouse is second to none. The shower is amazing. The parking for this guesthouse is in the A2 zone and we found a space very easily. Scarborough is lucky to have this little gem, we will definitely return! We ended up staying as extra night as the weather was so good and we were definitely happy to stay for a extra night at The Barrington Guesthouse.

About This Hotel

Nestled between the Scarborough sea front and the town centre, The Barrington Guesthouse presents a welcoming blend of historic charm and practical convenience. The property sits in an 18th century Grade II listed building, a detail that gives it character while keeping modern essentials within reach. Nine guest rooms offer a compact yet comfortable base for a coastal break and the atmosphere is relaxed rather than formal. From the moment you step inside you can sense traditional architecture meeting contemporary comfort. Location is the guesthouse’s strongest asset. You are just a short stroll from the promenade, the busy shopping streets, and Scarborough’s compact town centre. Palace Hill on Eastborough places you close to both the sea and a variety of local amenities, making daily excursions simple and flexible. Guests frequently choose this spot for a straightforward, unfussy escape where you can drop your bags and step out to explore the coastline or browse the town at your own pace. While the property does not list a pool or restaurant, its proximity to the beach and coastal paths invites easy day trips and relaxed evenings by the sea. The fresh air and gentle pace of Scarborough mean you can plan a classic seaside itinerary with little effort. It is an inviting base for strolls along the seafront, sunset views over the water, and evenings spent discovering seaside cafes and pubs a short walk from the door. Inside, the nine rooms balance character with practicality. The historic nature of the building adds charm while you stay connected thanks to free WiFi throughout. The exact layout of each room varies, and guests are advised to confirm occupancy and bed configuration at booking to ensure the best fit for your party. In a Grade II listed house, expect features that reflect the era alongside the needs of today’s travelers, creating a comfortable and memorable stay. Because The Barrington Guesthouse is described as room only, there is no on site dining included. This suits guests who prefer flexibility and the opportunity to explore Scarborough’s wide range of eateries, from casual cafes to traditional pubs and seafood spots. Being in such a central location makes sampling different kitchens easy, with many options just a short walk away. Families and groups will find the property offers welcome flexibility. The policies confirm that children of any age are welcome and that the maximum number of guests per booking is five. Cots and extra beds are subject to availability, with up to one cot and up to two extra beds allowed. There is no age restriction for check in, and a cot for very young children can incur a small charge. These rules help families plan a stay that suits their needs without surprises. Relaxation and quiet moments are easy to find in this central yet tranquil base. There is no mention of a spa or wellness suite in the listing, but the location offers the chance to unwind by the sea, enjoy long walks, and return to comfortable rooms after a day of exploration. The overall guest experience balances a solid value proposition with a friendly, homely atmosphere that appeals to travelers seeking a simple coastal getaway. Overall, The Barrington Guesthouse is ideal for couples seeking good value in a sea facing setting, families needing flexible space, and travelers who want a central Scarborough base with easy access to the coast. With a strong overall rating and high marks for location and wifi, this guesthouse offers a dependable, low fuss stay that makes it easy to plan an affordable coastal break. If you value historic character, a central location, and a relaxed approach to travel, this is a compelling choice.
