If you're like me, and you check the negative reviews, here's what I found. I'm a light sleeper and I slept very well. There's some small noise outside the rooms at the back in the loading area but it was very quiet for us. Yes, the rooms are quite warm, and the air conditioning wasn't super effective, but leaving it long enough did the trick. And the noises it makes are pretty quiet and obviously AC-related. I've stayed in plenty of other hotels with much worse. The history and character of the hotel has been retained beautifully. The room we were in was apparently a standard double and it was massive. Wonderful high ceilings, good sound isolation, two separate rooms for toilet and bath/shower! The room and bathrooms were spotless too. The taps are a bit historic. Clearly they match the time period of the room, which definitely adds to the character, but they are very finicky - they don't all quite work, but it's really not a big issue at all. The mattress wasn't the softest ever, but it certainly wasn't hard by any means. I'm very picky about hard mattresses and I slept well. They also have perfect pillows for me - one 1.5-sized pillow which was very supportive on my shoulders, and a much larger pillow for sitting up in bed. We had a lovely stay and I'm really looking forward to a future trip when we can return.

Wayne always goes above and beyond whan sorting out with the bags and car one of the main reasons I stay
Very nice bar service and breakfast very good. Disappointed by room location- directly over hotel loading bay. Raised with reception staff on departure. Response was that there is 24 hr service - we could have asked for another room!!!! At 03:00 in the morning !!
Location good. Ncp parking close by (take a paper ticket and get an additional ticket from the hotel to take 24 charge to £21 (from 26), hotel is £46. Breakfast very good but expensive. Rooms are spacious and well presented. Very comfy bed.
Lovely hotel and very attentive staff,
