Visited Hotel Victoria with my partner to try and beat the January blues & it worked! This hotel is gorgeous. The interior is divine and you can just tell that a lot of effort has gone in to all of the design choices. The staff couldn't be more helpful. They are all polite, kind and knowledge and really make you feel like a valued guest. The hotel is beautifully located just at the top of Robin Hood's Bay and has incredible views of the sea. I love that the hotel has a bar and a pub to chose from. Breakfast was brilliant and we also booked an afternoon tea, which was delightful. Couldn't recommend this hotel more highly!

Very clean hotel with nice fixtures and fittings throughout. Comfortable clean room with a good selection of quality teas, coffees etc and a spotlessly clean en-suite bathroom with branded toiletries. Liked the different places within the hotel to eat and drink The restaurant with a stunning view of the coast, a cosy pub with real fires, the lounge bar area and, weather permitting, outside patio with cliff top garden.

About This Hotel

Victoria Hotel sits on the cliff tops above Robin Hood’s Bay, a grand Victorian house that blends heritage charm with modern comfort. With just 14 rooms, the hotel preserves an intimate feel while delivering thoughtful service. The setting is a standout feature: perched on the edge of the North York Moors, it offers dramatic sea views and a peaceful, coastal atmosphere that invites guests to slow down and appreciate the scenery. Location and surroundings play a crucial role here. The hotel places you right at the edge of the moors, where easy access to coastal walks and the landscape that shapes this coastline becomes part of your daily rhythm. The village itself is known for its characterful lanes and seaside character, making Victoria Hotel a natural base for travelers who want a genuine coastal stay with a touch of history. The sea is never far away. A distinctive sea view tea room is a highlight, providing a relaxed spot to unwind with light bites and hot drinks while admiring the coastline. The property carries a clear emphasis on views and atmosphere, letting the natural beauty of Robin Hood’s Bay inform your day as you move from the dining room to a lounge area that feels both inviting and reflective. Rooms at the Victoria Hotel are a strong selling point. Expect the comfort of Egyptian cotton bedding, which adds a layer of luxury to a good night’s sleep after a day of exploring. The building itself retains its Victorian character while offering practical, well kept interiors that feel refreshed rather than antique. While not every room can be described as sea facing, the hotel does emphasize light, airy spaces and views where available, helping guests wake up to the sea air and a sense of calm. Food and drink are central to the stay. The hotel is known for homemade meals that lean on simple, honest flavors designed to satisfy after long walks or a day by the coast. Breakfast options include different styles, with references to English or Irish breakfast as well as continental choices, ensuring guests can start their day with familiar favorites. The on site dining extends to lounge areas and a restaurant style setting, with a range of drinks and dishes designed to suit varied tastes throughout the day. Family friendliness is a clear strength. Children of any age are welcome, which helps make Victoria Hotel a viable option for family trips that want a comfortable base by the sea. The property notes that the maximum occupancy is four guests in a room, which makes it a good fit for small families or pairs traveling together. The surrounding area is particularly appealing to families who enjoy outdoor activities, as natural landscapes and hiking opportunities are nearby, offering a gentle blend of coastal air and moorland scenery. Relaxation and entertainment options focus on cozy, sociable spaces. The lounge or bar areas, often accompanied by a fireplace in photos, create an inviting backdrop for quiet evenings after a day of sightseeing. The sea view tea room and the on site restaurant provide convenient options for meals and casual gatherings, while the overall ambience leans toward a refined but relaxed coastal retreat. The setting is designed to be lived in, not just visited, with spaces that encourage lingering and conversation. This hotel is ideal for several kinds of holidaymakers. Couples seeking a romantic break will relish the dramatic cliffs and the intimate scale of a 14 room property. Families with older children can enjoy a relaxed, approachable base with room for four, simple but satisfying meals, and easy access to natural landscapes. Walkers and outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to the North York Moors and the coast, offering fresh air and scenic trails. Finally, heritage lovers will find comfort in the Victorian architecture and the refined atmosphere that blends history with modern amenities. In short, Victoria Hotel offers a refined, welcoming, and distinctly coastal stay. It combines a dramatic cliffside setting with practical comforts, homemade food, and spaces designed for relaxation and connection. This is a hotel that invites guests to slow down, savor the view, and enjoy a thoughtful, well crafted coastal experience that suits a range of travelers from romantic couples to small families and keen walkers.
