staid in room 220 as was visiting for a hyrox. Room was spacious comfy had everything we needed and more was super clean and the overall vibe of entire place was super cool had everything you could want!
It was amazing, the ambiance and vibe was really lovely. The staff were very helpful, the place was very clean, the beds extremely comfortable, the breakfast was well cooked. we had everything we needed. The staff also made a fuss of my sister in law as it was her 60th, they put a happy birthday sign and a birthday message in the room, a very nice personal touch. Perfect for the Theatre just around the corner. Thank you so much.
Loved the facilities on the property plus the amenities inside the room. Having the ability to cook for one self was great. Clean room and cozy and warm.
Clean with good service and ideal location for The Palace Theatre
Location for the O2 Ritz was excellent 5min walk. Room was lovely, everything you would need including washing machine and dishwasher !!. I have a back injury and the lovely reception staff provided extra pillows for support xx ❤️ Enjoyed a drink in the bar on our return from the event, lovely staff great cocktails.
Great location, lovely staff. Laura was a gem. Highly recommend.
The room was on the third floor, was quiet and spacious. It had a kitchenette that is useful for longer stays, we didn’t need to use but if I came for work I would use more!
Very friendly and helpful staff, great location and the hotel has a real charm about it. The room was quite stylish, lovely bed, bathroom and kitchen.
Beds were very comfy and a very quiet room given the hotel is in such a central location.
Friendly staff on arrival, the room was great - dark, warm but not too warm, really spacious. Beds were super comfy and the shower and bathroom was great. Enjoyed the downstairs space for relaxing in as well. Ideal location for our event.
Honestly, it was incredible! Super close to 2 stations in Manchester (I walked to both of them by myself carrying 3 heavy luggage), the place is extremely gorgeous and everything was super comfortable. The entire unit is very spacious and nicely decorated. Didn't dine there, but breakfast came with a lot of food and it was very tasty. Would love to stay there again if I ever return to the city!
The staff are super friendly and accommodating Their cafe and reception are always cozy

About This Hotel
Whitworth Locke sits in a thoughtfully restored 19th century building in Manchester’s civic quarter, a stylish base for city exploration. The hotel presents 172 rooms that range from compact studios to more expansive suites, all designed with a contemporary, comfortable aesthetic. The interiors balance clean lines with warm textures, creating spaces that feel calm yet vibrant after a day of sightseeing or meetings. Across the property guests enjoy complimentary WiFi throughout, a practical amenity whether you are planning to work remotely, stream your favourite shows, or simply map out the next day’s adventures. Public spaces invite social connection, with a welcoming lobby, a lounge or bar that serves as a relaxed gathering spot, and an on site restaurant that supports convenient dining without leaving the building. Whitworth Locke understands that a city break should feel effortless, and the design language reflects that idea with an approachable, modern vibe rather than a formal hotel atmosphere. Location is a key part of the appeal here. The property is positioned in Manchester’s civic quarter, placing you in the heart of the city’s administrative and cultural pulse. This central setting makes it convenient to access a range of attractions, from historic sites to contemporary venues, with easy access to public transport for trips farther afield. The surrounding streets showcase architectural character that mirrors the hotel’s own blend of old world charm and new world comfort, making it a compelling option for guests who want to absorb the city’s energy without sacrificing a sense of retreat back at the hotel. If you are planning a city break rather than a seaside escape, Whitworth Locke focuses on the pleasures of indoor and urban life. The property does not emphasize a private pool or beach experience, which suits travelers who prefer a compact, walkable city base with a strong emphasis on room comfort and social spaces. Instead of resort style amenities, you will find thoughtful design details and practical conveniences that suit modern expectations, from fast reliable WiFi to flexible room setups. Room comfort is a strong point. The 172 rooms offer a spectrum of options designed to cater to solo travelers, couples, and families alike. In the associated imagery you will notice features that suggest living space within the room—areas for relaxing, working, or enjoying time with others. Some rooms are equipped with a living area and seating, and there are indications of kitchen or kitchenette facilities in certain configurations. This makes Whitworth Locke attractive for longer stays or guests who value the convenience of preparing light meals or snacks without leaving the room. Bedding is designed for restful nights and the overall atmosphere stays bright and welcoming thanks to large windows and contemporary decor. Food and drink at Whitworth Locke are designed to complement a busy city pace. An on site restaurant and a lounge or bar provide opportunities for casual meals, coffee breaks, and evening socialising without needing to venture far from your room. The presence of multiple on site dining options means you can enjoy a sense of occasion or a quick, informal bite depending on your mood and plans for the day. The dining spaces are styled to be comfortable, with a laid back vibe that encourages lingering over a conversation about the day’s discoveries. Family friendliness is well considered. The hotel welcomes children of all ages, and there are policies in place to support families with options for cots and extra beds where available. The policy details indicate that one child up to a certain age can stay free when using available cots, while other configurations may allow additional children to stay free when sharing existing beds. There is also the possibility of extra beds for additional guests at a set daily rate, subject to availability. These policies reflect a flexible approach to family travel, allowing guests to choose a setup that suits their needs while keeping an eye on the overall occupancy. Wellness and entertainment options align with a modern city hotel ethos. A fitness centre or facilities are available for guests who want to keep up their routines while away from home. In addition, communal spaces such as a lounge or TV room offer opportunities for social relaxation, while the lobby and reception areas provide a sense of arrival and friendly service. The combination of a social bar, comfortable seating, and quiet corners for reading or planning the next excursion supports a balanced stay where you can unwind after a day of meetings or sightseeing. Whitworth Locke is ideally suited for several kinds of travelers. It is a strong choice for style minded couples seeking a chic urban escape, thanks to the contemporary design language and the supportive on site dining. Families will appreciate the room configurations that can accommodate different group sizes, the potential for cots or extra beds, and the ease of staying within a single property that offers both space and comfort. Business travelers will find the reliable WiFi, central location, and well equipped rooms conducive to work and rest in equal measure. For longer stays, the kitchenette equipped options provide flexibility to prepare meals, saving time and adding convenience. The 9 plus rating for location and the staff’s noted warmth in reviews reflect a property that consistently delivers on hospitality and a sense of place. In short, Whitworth Locke is a refined city base that combines historic charm with contemporary comfort, designed for guests who want to immerse themselves in Manchester while enjoying a welcoming, well equipped home away from home.
