Types of Accommodation
Alongside city hotels there are many resorts and aparthotels. Side and Belek are known for large all-inclusive resorts, Kaş and Kalkan for boutique hotels and guest houses, and Çıralı for bungalows. For quiet bays, see our guide Hidden Beach Hotels on Turkey’s Mediterranean Coast, and for families Family Resorts on Turkey’s Mediterranean: Alanya, Side, Kemer and Ölüdeniz.
When to Go
The Mediterranean has Turkey’s longest swimming season, usually from late April to November. July and August are very hot and busy; May, June, September and October are ideal for combining the sea with walking. The mild winter suits visits to ancient sites and long stays.
Getting There
The region’s main airport is Antalya; Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport is closer for Alanya and the coast to the east. For airport transfers, see Antalya Airport (AYT) transfers and Gazipasa-Alanya Airport (GZP) transfers. Destinations along the coast are easy to travel between by road.
Things to Do
The ancient cities of Aspendos and Perge, the Manavgat waterfall, Kekova boat trips, walks on the Lycian Way and the nature around Olympos and Çıralı are among the region’s favourite experiences. For day trips from Antalya and Kemer, see the tour links on our Antalya page.
