Guest Reviews

Good location,
This was my first time staying at Admirals Guest House and my childrens first time to the UK. The location was absolutely perfect for us. A few steps away from the train and taxi station. A short walk to the town center as well. My reservation was upgraded to a room with a kitchenette without my knowledge, which worked out and was absolutely perfect for us. The owners are the most pleasant people I have met in the UK thus far. Always greeted you with a smile and gave helpful advice of places to visit. Checked up daily to make sure we were comfortable or asked if we needed anything and even assisted us with our luggage to the train station and also made sure we were catching the right train after we checked out. They say, "Your first impression is a lasting one", well in this case, that saying is so true. I will stay at Admirals Guest house when I return to the UK next year for sure. 🤗🤗🤗.

About This Hotel
Admiral Guest House sits on a picturesque square overlooking well tended gardens. This Victorian Grade II listed house blends historic elegance with practical hospitality. With seven guest rooms, the property offers a quiet, intimate atmosphere that is ideal for travelers who value character and comfort. The exterior and the internal common areas reflect a sense of bygone charm, while careful upkeep ensures modern convenience where it matters. Location is a defining strength. The guest house sits in a serene square and is just a short stroll from the coast, around ten minutes on foot to the beach. It is also directly opposite the rail station and close to major bus stops, making it easy to arrive by train or bus and to explore the surrounding coastline and countryside without long transfers. Guests appreciate the convenience of a central address that still feels calm and residential. Inside, seven rooms offer plenty of variety for couples, small families and solo travelers. Each room focuses on comfort after a day by the sea or exploring local attractions. While the property is historic, the interior spaces are designed to feel welcoming and well proportioned, with soft lighting and practical storage to help you unpack and unwind. The overall vibe is one of understated elegance rather than luxury showmanship, so guests can relax without fuss. While the data does not list an on site pool, the proximity to the beach means you can easily enjoy a coastal day and return to a peaceful base. Gardens surrounding the square lend an outdoorsy feel, offering fresh air and a pleasant view from many rooms. The property is well placed for cluster of walking routes and easy access to public transport for day trips along the coast or inland. Food and drink are part of the simple appeal here. Local dining options are plentiful in the area and the gallery of photos hints at inviting dining spaces within the property. Guests may choose to dine out in the many nearby cafés and bistros that showcase local produce, or to savor light meals in nearby venues after a day by the sea. Free WiFi keeps you connected whether you are catching up on emails or sharing photos with friends and family. Family friendliness is a clear feature. The property welcomes children of any age and maintains a maximum occupancy of three guests per booking. There is no capacity for extra beds or cots, but the policy notes that up to two children aged six and under can stay with existing beds for a supplement of GBP 35 per child per night. Parents will want to confirm arrangements in advance to ensure the right setup for their family. As for convenience and connectivity, WiFi is available in all areas at no extra charge. Public parking is nearby, with a small daily fee of GBP 5 per day, and parking reservations are recommended. Check in is available from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, and check out runs from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The property asks guests to respect local guidelines and to check in within the stated times for a smooth arrival. Guests looking for a relaxing break will value the calm ambience and garden views, a simple but effective setting for reading, a quiet evening, or a slow stroll to the shore. The location also suits travelers who need efficient transport links to explore the wider area, while still offering a homely, unpretentious base. This is the kind of stay that appeals to couples, to families seeking practical comfort near the coast, and to travelers who mix sightseeing with genuine rest in a small, character filled property. Admiral Guest House is a smart choice for guests who want a historic, well located base with easy access to the beach and transport network, comfortable rooms, flexible policies for families, and a welcoming, low key atmosphere. If you value a quiet, personable stay that respects its heritage while keeping everyday practicality in view, you will feel at home here from your first step inside West Square.
