Very friendly and helpful owner, the room was tidy, and contained lots of information on activities and places to eat. Accommodation is across the road from the train station with everything in within walking distance, should you not drive.

Chloe 10.0

The owner was very friendly and kind welcoming. Soon as we arrived she was prompt to get us to our property. It was a last minute stay due to an unexpected visit to another hotel that was inadequate for my family to stay in. The owner sorted us out quickly and promptly. The room was clean and tidy. The bathroom is stunning.. my little boys slept really well in the bunk beds and really enjoyed their stay. The double bed was clean and comfy, one of the comfiest beds we have slept in away from home. Lovely little touches in the room, shower gels clean towels and amenities. Hairdryer was a great idea as I had forgotten mine. Lovely location and close to the beach.

About This Hotel

Nestled on West Square in Scarborough, the Admiral Hotel occupies a Victorian Grade II listed building that has earned recognition for its character and hospitality. The property sits close to the town centre, placing guests within easy reach of Scarborough’s shops, cafés and sights, while offering a quiet retreat from the bustle. The building itself is a standout example of period architecture, with details that reflect its history and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home. With eight rooms, this is a boutique option that emphasizes personal service and a relaxed pace of travel. Guests arrive to a compact, intimate property that prioritizes comfort and a warm, homely feel. The Admiral Hotel is described as award winning, a mark of the care put into service and presentation. Free WiFi is accessible throughout, ensuring guests can stay connected whether they are catching up on emails or sharing photos of Scarborough’s scenery. Parking permits can be provided for an additional cost, helping visitors manage parking in a busy coastal town. For drivers, nearby public parking is also available at GBP 5 per day, subject to space and reservation requirements. The practical details matter for planning a coastal break, and this hotel lays them out clearly. Inside, the eight guest rooms are designed to offer straightforward comfort with a nod to Victorian styling. The listing emphasizes a simple, well maintained environment where guests can unwind after days spent exploring the area. While the data does not specify a full renovation timeline, the property’s Grade II listing signals a level of preserved character that many travelers prize in Scarborough. The rooms are configured to accommodate different needs, and the maximum occupancy is four per room, which makes it a versatile choice for couples, friends sharing a short break, or small families. Photo notes attached to the listing show beds and room layouts, giving a sense of how space is arranged and how beds are positioned for relaxation after a day by the coast. The Admiral Hotel is built to be welcoming for families, with policies that reflect a flexible approach to children staying on site. Children of any age are welcome, and the property notes that up to three children can stay and dine on existing beds for a supplement of GBP 35 per child per night. There is no capacity for additional cots or beds beyond what is included in the room, and the general occupancy cap remains four guests in total. The minimum age for check in is 18, a common policy in many city centre properties, helping to create a calm, orderly environment. The hotel also states that pets are not allowed on site, an important consideration for guests with allergies or those seeking a strictly animal-free stay. Dining is not listed as an on-site feature, so guests should expect to rely on options outside the hotel. The listing does not specify a restaurant, bar or breakfast service, which means planning ahead for meals is advisable if you are particular about where to eat first thing in the morning. On the upside, the property is positioned to serve as a convenient base for seeing Scarborough, and the absence of specified dining options can be appealing for travelers who prefer to explore local eateries at their own pace. Free WiFi is a practical perk for guests who want to stream a film after a day of sightseeing or stay connected with friends and family back home, and the building’s atmosphere offers a tranquil base for unwinding. Who is this hotel ideal for? The Admiral Hotel appeals to travelers who prize location and character over a long list of facilities. It suits couples seeking a quiet, centrally located base with easy access to Scarborough’s centre, friends on a coastal break who want a low-key, unpretentious stay, and small families who appreciate flexible room configurations and clear policies. It is not a resort property, so guests looking for a resort-style experience, multiple dining outlets or a spa should look elsewhere. Yet for a tasteful, conveniently located home away from home, the Admiral Hotel presents a refined option that makes it easy to enjoy Scarborough without unnecessary clutter. If you value a historic setting, a walkable location, and straightforward guest rules that keep things simple, this boutique property could be the right match for your next coastal escape.
