I don’t much like the Borough in general, but this pub and hostel is in quite a cosy and almost village-like little corner. The staff were friendly and helpful, and seemed to enjoy working there. My dorm had a nice style. It had an odd layout, with all of the beds in an island in the middle with a walkway all the way round all of them. It seemed to work, though, as it meant that no one was facing each other and we could easily get to the windows. The beds had sockets, though no curtains, reading lights or shelves. I paid £20 a night so my judgments are based on that. It was a bit expensive but other hostels at that time were similar or worse.

Such a great idea for a lovely old pub. The bunk beds are tightly packed, but clean with comfy mattresses. Very good value for money. Such a great location, close to some of the best bits of London. Highly recommend Lupins across the road for food - an absolute treat.

Location excellent. Even with a tube strike, very easy to get around central London. Excellent walking and cycle routes right outside the front door. Room clean well presented albeit basic. The shower room was fabulous - lots of space to get ready and water pressure and temperature brilliant! The standout for me was the team - all the staff were really friendly, helpful and welcoming. I was encouraged to spend time in the pub downstairs which was very hospitable - other guests playing board games and relaxing. Was a really nice atmosphere.
