Staff pleasant. Pot luck which standard of room you get - had some amazing rooms and some not so! Staff always move or change you though if it's not ok. Love bingo and the turn on the evening. Love the location and the views and the size of the hotel - You could get lost in there.

About This Hotel

The Grand Scarborough sits high on St Nicholas Cliff, overlooking Scarborough Harbour and South Bay. This hillside property embraces its Victorian character while offering a commanding sea view appeal. The landmark hotel is known for its Cabaret Ballroom, which hosts evening entertainment 365 days a year, adding a touch of theatre to memorable seaside stays. Guests are welcomed by a traditional ambience that blends classic architecture with a lively harbour front atmosphere, making it an appealing choice for those who love the coast with a touch of showmanship. Positioned along the Scarborough seafront, The Grand offers an instantly recognisable setting where the drama of the coast meets comfortable hospitality. From the moment you arrive, the property conveys a sense of timeless charm, while the harbour and the bay create a constant backdrop of blue water, boats, and coastal activity. This location is ideal for visitors who want to dip in and out of Scarborough’s lively harbour scene, stroll along the promenade, or simply pause to listen to the rhythms of the sea as you plan your day. The guest rooms are the heart of the stay, framed by the building’s maritime heritage and finished with practical comforts. The 92 rooms cover a range of layouts, each designed to maximise views and natural light. You will notice classic touches such as comfortable beds and wardrobes, with many rooms offering thoughtful in room amenities like coffee and tea facilities. The bathroom areas are well presented in line with the hotel’s traditional style, with photos showing a mix of shower and bath configurations to suit different preferences. The overall effect is a refined seaside retreat that feels both grounded and inviting, providing a reliable base after a day of coastal exploration or a night of theatre in the Cabaret Ballroom. Dining at The Grand is about convenient, on site options that complement a day beside the sea. The property makes use of its location to deliver a straightforward yet satisfying food and drink experience. Visuals of on site dining options include appearances of restaurant style settings and lounge spaces where guests can gather for a relaxed meal or a casual drink. In rooms there are often coffee and tea facilities, and the hotel’s social spaces include a lounge feel that invites conversation and reflection after a day on the coast. Entertainment is a standout feature at The Grand Scarborough. The Cabaret Ballroom is described as stunning and hosts evening performances throughout the year, creating a destination within a destination for visitors who enjoy live acts and a touch of glamour on holiday. The presence of a library and a welcoming lobby area also contributes to a sense of relaxed sophistication, encouraging guests to unwind with a book or mingle with fellow travellers. The architecture itself, with its Victorian bones and harbour views, provides a constant source of atmosphere that enhances evenings spent in the building. When it comes to family friendliness, The Grand presents a clear and practical policy framework. The property welcomes children of any age, offering a family oriented approach that respects the needs of guests with younger travellers. The policy notes that up to two children can stay free when using existing beds, and the maximum number of guests per room is four, which can help families plan compact and comfortable stays. There is no capacity for extra beds or cots in some cases according to the policy, so families will want to review room configurations when booking. The minimum check in age is 18, reflecting standard hotel practice for adult supervision during stays, and WiFi is available across the property at no charge, helping guests stay connected while they enjoy the sea air. Pets are allowed, with charges potentially applicable, which makes the hotel a flexible choice for travellers who want to bring their four legged companions on a coastal break. The Grand Scarborough is clearly well suited to travellers who seek a classic seaside escape with a touch of theatre, a strong sense of place, and practical comforts that make a holiday easy. It is ideal for couples looking for sea views and an elegant, Victorian ambience, for families who value a flexible approach to beds and meals, and for guests who want a lively programme of evening entertainment that can turn an ordinary stay into something special. Those who prioritise location will appreciate the property’s harbour and bay outlooks, its proximity to Scarborough’s promenade, and the sense of theatre that pervades the building. If you want a seaside character with a social scene and reliable hospitality, The Grand Scarborough offers a confident, well rounded option. In summary, The Grand Scarborough is a dependable choice for a traditional coastal break that pairs a coveted seafront position with classic design, year round entertainment, and family friendly policies. It delivers a theatre of experiences right on the doorstep, from sunrise harbour views to intimate lounge moments and spirited Cabaret Ballroom evenings. This is a hotel that rewards guests who value a memorable, atmosphere rich stay by the sea, with an experience that is both comforting and a little glamorous.
