Guest Reviews
We love it here
Only downside was an absence of a view through the window (the lower window was boarded up which made the room feel rather claustrophobic). The room was otherwise really good.
Location, reserved parking, fat badger bar. Food excellent
This hotel has been refurbished and is gorgeous. Received a free upgrade to a superior sea view which was a bonus, overlooking the Abbey and harbour.
I was a bit wary about staying here with the reviews being quite mixed but the location sold it to us and we certainly were not disappointed. They have (and still are) doing a huge makeover over the whole hotel. Our room was so comfortable with a huge bed and views over the harbour to the abbey. There was a table and chairs in the window so on waking up you could have your first cuppa watching the day break over the abbey top. The bathroom was spotless with a big shower. The fat badger bar area is really funky and really buzzing on a night. There are also other quieter areas available too. I want to make a special mention of Rutha on reception. We had an issue with the first room we were given and,as it was Steam Punk weekend, the hotel was very full so we didn’t hold out much hope of being moved. However, she went the extra mile and managed to find us the lovely room we ended up with and even helped us carry our luggage over. That really made our weekend special so many thanks again Rutha!
