Soğanlı and Ihlara Balloon Ride: One-Hour Flight

When people think of ballooning in Cappadocia, Göreme comes to mind first, but the valleys in the south of the region look just as impressive from the air. This Soğanlı and Ihlara balloon ride keeps you aloft for about an hour over a quieter flying area, away from the busiest skies.

Preparation

The team starts planning your flight as soon as your booking is confirmed. Your pickup time is sent to you on the day before the flight, so please wait for that message before asking. On the morning of the flight a private shuttle collects you from your chosen location or hotel in Cappadocia.

At the launch site

When you arrive, a light breakfast is served while you watch the balloon being prepared. Your pilot gives a detailed briefing on flight safety and the plan for the morning before you move into the basket.

Flight and celebration

For about an hour you float over valleys, villages and rock formations. After landing there is a traditional champagne celebration and you are presented with a special flight certificate. Once the celebrations are over, you are dropped safely back at the starting point or your hotel.

Good to know

Health insurance is included. The flight is not recommended for travellers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnant travellers, and it depends on the weather and Civil Aviation permission. Tips are not included. Mornings are cool, so dress in layers and wear flat shoes for the basket.
